Trying to be disciplined with trades

Hey all. Firstly, not going for overall anymore. 24trades

Backline is god, GIBBS, duff, GOODES, PITTARD, terlich, brown & DOCHERTY and I'm considering copping two donuts and almost certainly losing my league matches just because I feel/hope (not sure which one it is) that atleast 3 of those will be back next week. I think Pittard & Goodes both have about another 150k to make.

I'm also considering using my trades elsewhere (Rowe>Hannath & Dwyer>Daisy) because I don't trust any rookie defenders at this stage. Will get Colq in 2 weeks hopefully. Those trades don't save any other donuts, but it does finalise my forwards. Cox, Rockliff, Zorko, Kennedy, Franklin & DAISY. Also think Rowe is cooked (not picked on an extended bench and 3 other talls all picked with Waite still to come back)

Is anyone else trying to be disciplined by limiting sideways trades and copping donuts or is this crazy ?

Ringo

With 24 trades left you are still in a comfortable position.

Hannath may only get you a short term gain with Zac Clarke on the comeback trail so would not do at this stage.  I am keeping Rowe at this point for the R/F DPP with Cox and also possible use of VC Loophole when able.

Do you have a mid rookie that has maxed out that you may be able to trade to Vlaustin or another defender.  This will allow you to move Gibbs or Goodes to mids and only allowing one donut.

I have forgone Daisy this week as I do not think he will end up as one of the Top 10 forwards (only my opinion) and gone Dwyer to Gray (Gray will continue to rise in price and will allow a final prem upgrade).

Using the Dwyer to Gray example it is not a sideways trade but a trade to improve team scoring with potential to rise further.

Basically with trading the rule is it needs to improve teams and gives additional flexibility and options. Sometimes a sideways trade is necessary to avoid losing too much cash but the trick is to jump when right eg Franklin fallen quite considerably but unless you ditched him 2/3 weeks ago too late now.

Thanks heaps Ringo. Ur advice is always welcomed!
Mids are Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Kennedy, Lucas, Wines, O'Meara, Jones, COTCHIN, CROUCH
So if it were to be anyone I would think Wines to go, but he's going next week for Priddis.
So Lucas BE 29, O'Meara BE 5, and Jones BE 5 still have a little cash to make.
I like the Vlas in Mids option to provide flexibility, but bringing him in and swapping hiim to Def only gives me a 0 in the mids  >:(

just being inquisitive, but who do you rate as the top 10 fwds Ringo??

My advice if you are only going for league win :-
       - Only do enough to get into the final 8 (top 4 is ideal though, double chance is handy). Remember there is NO difference between coming 1st over 4th or 5th over 8th.(no home ground advantage)
       - If you are winning enough matches dont Trade, But if you start struggling burn a few.
       - You should try to leave yourself with 6 trades for finals and 6 for the last 3 weeks leading into finals(double trading in those weeks)
       - Allow your rookies to fully mature.
       - If there is a premium at bargain price, still grab him though i.e. Franklin in a few weeks etc.
       - Save trades, save trades, save trades  (donuts really dont mean anything in the long run)

I think people are overstating the value of trades this year. Last year we all finished our teams, and covered our injuries, and were fine in the long run... This year we have 6 additional trades. So you can still do everything you did last year, and have 6 luxury sideways trades.
Cover those donuts man!

Still need to be smart with trades and not waste them

Everyone has their own ideas and could argue with me but my Top 10 forwards would be
Cox,
Bartell,
Rioli,
Johnson
Nick Riewoldt (really back to form this year)
Andrew Walker
Rockliff
Goodes (traditionally comes home with a wet sail in second half of season).
Franklin
Cloke

On the cusp Martin if he continues his current form, Thomas depending on how used, Harvey may come into consideration if he shows any form on return. JJ Kennedy may get a Guernsey as well if he can maintain early season form.

so with daisy possibly not being a top 10 forward would it be a good idea to go to Gray instead and use to cash for Priddis or Buddy next week ?
