so, does anyone know why Essendon have not brought Ryder back in after his suspension?  Played quite well last game he played before his suspension, Hille goes out, no ruckman brought back in.

Do they think Bellchambers can handle the ruck by himself? Okay Geelongs ruck department isn't amazing, but the dons don't even have a back up forward who could pinch hit in the ruck for relief do they?  Can't see them risking the gumbletron more injury exposure by putting him the ruck for a bit.

Seems odd to me, any Essendon fans know why Ryder wasn't straight back in?

And yes, I have Ryder in my team, hence the annoyance.

Some people have suggested he will be a late inclusion, others have said he's being taught a lesson for his suspension, and will have to earn his place. We won't know until about 6:30pm tonight though.

juzztheball

snipped him after round 2. early call but a good one.

spuddy9595

he will play for sure, Hille has been dropped so we only have Bellchambers to ruck

Just realised it would have been 7 changes if he comes in (well if its for someone who played last week), so what would be massive turn over for an undefeated team, with only 1 of them due to an injury (Stanton).

Only just saw the article of the AFL website.  Guess it was down to Ryder vs Gumbleton - surely with Hurley back as the key forward, you would take Ryder any day with the versatility he offers!

I'm a hawks fan, and it'd kind of be like leaving Roughead out for Gunston

on "word from hird", hird says he chose gumby over ryder for chf.  said it was hard to break into the team after 3 games off.

sounds a lot like a punishment for being suspended.

As an Essendon supporter l dont mind at all if it's been done to teach him a lesson, short term pain for long term gain.

Strengthening core values and discipline is never a bad thing in a developing team

TheMoops

Personally I don't think he'll be a late inclusion - the cats are a small, speedy team, so if we played Belly Gumby Hurley Crameri AND Ryder the cats would run rings round us. and I think it's a great decision, Gumby is in form so why drop him for an unknown quantity in Ryder who is most likely a bit out of sorts form-wise after three weeks in the stands?

Capper

I dont think he will be a late inclussion also. The dons have gone smaller to try an combat the Cats running game

kilbluff1985

I think he'll come in for NLM or Melksham

Ryder runs like A mid so don't know why people saying its a speed issue

spuddy9595

I can't see Melksham getting dropped he has played ok.

I can understand the speed issue but still think Paddy is too valuable not to play especially against an average ruck combo in West and Blicavs he should dominate those 2.

I'd take Ryder every day of the week over NLM. As for him being taught a lesson I find that hard to believe given the report was a joke to begin with especially when you compare it with Kosi

He didnt play well in his last game at all? He did F all until the he kicked the winniing goal. Hes really been pretty ordinary in all his games this year so im not surprised that hes not playing.

Hird said they would rather Gumby in the forward line over Ryder :o

Thats just ridiculous..
The Geelong defence will pull apart a guy like Gumby but Ryder has a bit of ex factor and is much harder to match up on
