Cotchin to Priddis?

Initially I thought I'd just hold Cotch and play Matty Jones for the week, who's playing GC so should be able to knock up a reasonable score against the young fellas.

But reconsidering now: I have Cotchin and Deledio in my midfield, and no round 12 players.. With Priddis being so cheap at the moment, is it worth taking a jump, and trade Cotch out for Curly Locks this week?

The plan would then be to just about sideways the two players back again after Cotchin's Round 11 bye, and before Priddis' Round 12 bye. Here are their averages against their next three opponents respectively:

Cotchin: 97 (MEL), 135 (ESS), 91 (WCE)                   AVE: 108

Priddis: 111 (NM), 128 (GWS)*, 103 (RIC)                       AVE: 114

*Hasn't ever played GWS before so I've taken his average vs GC, being a younger side we can expect a similar result!

So as you can see, Priddis should outaverage Cotchin by about six points over the next three weeks. That's not to mention the points I'll get by playing Priddis over Jones this week (averages 103 vs BL), and the points I'll gain playing Priddis over a rookie in R11 when Cotchin has his bye (averages 97 vs STK)

So what do you guys think? I've got a spare trade this week to use on getting rid of Cotchin, who I'll plan to get back in after his R11 bye before Priddis' bye... The stats are telling me 'YES' but my mind is in between...

Ideas would be appreciated, will cheer! :D

*Forgot to mention that I will also net about 100K from this trade. :o

I'm probably going Greene to Priddis, great value pick.

Cotchin is seriously doing my head in at the moment. Do you really think he won't be back next week?

Toga

I think he will be back next week, but I'm still seriously considering this because:
1. I can gain points from getting Priddis.
2. It suits my bye structures better.
3. During the byes they'll probably be close to a straight swap to get Cotchin back in.

remember that it's only the best 18 that count in bye rounds, rather than the full 22
and Cotchin would surely score more than 97 vs Melb

depends on what you're going for, but i'd lean toward trading Cotch

Sweetness

I'm stuck in the same boat with having Cotchin in all my fantasy teams.
I've benched him in Centrebet and Sportal and he is also benched in my DT.

However you have me thinking..
My planned trades were to bring in Priddis for Stevenson (swing Goodes back) to save a donut.
Maybe a straight Cotch to Priddis is better. You miss out on his price drop and you can get him back later for cheaper (hopefully)

I'm going to weigh that up til lockout I reckon.
It's a good trade, and your plan is solid.

It's definitely a solid trade with sound reasoning behind it. Problem for me is that I've already traded in Swallow and I'd lose him if I did this trade.

Thanks mate. I don't want to trade him, that's for sure, but can't help thinking it might be for the best at the moment..

The big thing for me is that I'll pocket 100K from this trade, and with Cotchin's massive BE at the moment, there's a good chance that him and Priddis will be pretty level come the end of Round 11 which is where I'd plan to swap them back again. Another point is that the 100K that I'm pocketing now will almost be enough to swap Jaeger for Cotch at the end of R11. :o

Thanks :)

The main thing I'm worried about though is Cotch is usually HUGE against Essendon so would like to get that score if I could :(

If you did the trade could you get Swallow next week? He's not traditionally a big scorer against the Dogs, but he destroys West Coast (who he plays next week).

For me this week I've gone Pittard > Laird (assuming he's named) and then Wines > Priddis with Cotch on the bench. Leaves me with about 165k and eliminates the possibility of losing money on Wines. I reckon Cotch will only be one week. Melbourne is a game they must win (especially if they lose against Port) and wouldn't risk resting him.

I don't know what the rest of your team looks like but Priddis is definitely going to provide great value. I am looking at getting him in next week for a Whitfield or Evans as M7.

Well down on price, and should average just under the 100 mark I would imagine..

I'm just not sure about cutting a premium, when Cotchin is back in your team looks worse. Consider Priddis an upgrade target, not a downgrade.

Toga

Good point tt. When Cotch is back in and scoring premium numbers then my team will look worse off.

I've just had a rethink, and think I might go for Priddis next week instead. I was gonna get Andy Swallow but there's a good chance they won't be too different in averages, but I'll be saving myself like 120K. :o

Only problem is, this leaves me with no midfield emergency this week. :-X

What will Prids B/E look like next week, it's 127 this week, assuming he scores 90-100?

Toga

That 4 will still be in his rolling average, so I'd estimate around 100 still. The week after, though, that four will drop out and he will start going up in price again.
