Hi all

Don't mind Ellis as a cheap young up & comer but obviously am concerned over him getting pigeon-holed as the easy vest option
Seems to have an impact in shorter stints when vested but has shown can be handy for 80++ given the TOG
Would prol go Dwyer-Ellis this week with a view to him being D6-8 for a while, can eventually turn him back into a MID anyway

He's named on the bench again this week (potential sub?) - is the a set-in thing or was he just getting brought along a bit slowly this season for some reason??

Anyone have a strong opinion either way?

There is a very strong feeling around here that he proved what he is capable of given a full game, and that that should be enough in the short term to avoid the vest.
I think the Tigers know he is a dam good midfielder, but are almost like trying to keep it under wraps, or under our radar ;)
For the time being I have traded Gibbs and that girl Pittard to Heater and Ellis to see how it looks, and it looks pretty nice. I thought about Gibbs and Goodes to Heater and Enright, but as it was pointed out to me, Goodes will probably average more than Enright, so this way I get to keep Goodes.
The reassuring thing is, last season he had a patch of vests, but then finished the season off with 12 full games.

btw, I'm not a Tiger expert, just someone willing to take the Ellis plunge with you 8)

i've done exactly the same as Slashers.  Again, this is based on the feeling that Ellis is starting to prove himself.  The Tigers' fans around here seem to have nothing but praise for the fella

I hope you are right about Ellis. Might get on - even if vested he'll make $$.

Why do you call Pittard 'that girl Pittard'?

And to you, itchy cocked one, not a lot of noise on this thread from those 'praising' Tiger supporters yet.  ???

Bully

I might further add that Tuck has been ignored for a second week, looks to me like Ellis has slipped into Tucky's battered shoes and will be given a license to run, particualrly with Conca sidelined for a month or so.

Why? I only started with him because he was cheap, not because I like or admire him. :o
He looks little and feminine. :-* :'(

tor01doc

So it's not a man crush kind of thing?  :-*

Ok, quick recap for those who missed the earlier thread.

Pros-
1. He's got a big 100 in his rolling average and is odds on to reach $300,000 even with a couple of modest weeks.
2. Conca & Tuck are out which almost guarantees midfield time.
3. He's a noted endurance athlete so will have no problem running out 4 quarters
4. He won't be sub this week given he's just played his best game for the RFC
5. He likes to kick as opposed to handball and his KE last week was 92%
6. He's clearly a safer option than any of the other cheaper rookies given he's missed 1 game since his debut
7. Matty White is odds on to be sub whilst he remains in the team.
8. He's a great player for the byes, particualrly round 13 when many teams will be stretched to the limit.
9. His ceiling is higher than any rookie defenders and he could well start churning out 80+ games.
10. The absolute worst case scenario is he'll struggle for a couple of games and still earn you $60,000

Cons
1. No cash generation in a straight swap with Pittard
2. Ellis has been sub 4 times this year
3. Conca, Foley & Tuck may return in a month or so.
4. Ellis may return to defence if Petterd fails to make the grade.
5. He had a pretty ordinary average last year (albeit playing in defence)

Well put bully, was going to jump on kid last week before he smashed a 120-130.

If talk of pittard being out longer then expected and staker few weeks away i think sideways to Ellis makes alot of sense.

Even named on the field this week, avoiding the interchange. Hopefully that means even less of a vest candidate. ;D

Ellis WILL NOT get the vest this week, he will have a role in the back half "get on"  ;)

+1 I think Foley will get the vest returning from injury
