Can somebody tell me why Hodge has been put into such a negative role in defence where it seems like he's not allowed to touch the football?

The fact he scored 234 points in the first 2 games of the season now it looks like he won't score that in the next 4 games really annoys me that I even traded him in to begin with.

Avoid Luke Hodge at all costs
Luke Hodge is not allowed to present for a mark
Put Luke Hodge into midfield for 1 stoppage, but when he finally gets his hands on the football, DO NOT let him get a possession

That comment is laughable. I don't know about everyone else, but he is only being used as a money making, mid road player. Last week he went up 20k and has a BE of 61 which isn't impossible...
