Ready to make my first upgrade after trading Viney to Evans this week.
Want a fourth premium defender below $450k.
Can Hartlett keep his scores up against quality opposition?
Is there someone else considering I prefer reasonably consistent players?
Grimes, Burgoyne?

its me lads

I'm in a similar situation. Have the possibility to upgrade this week but not sure where to upgrade, if I choose defense then it's highly likely i will grab Hartlett. Playing predominantly midfield this year and I believe he can score consistently and well. I don't like Grimes just because he plays for Melbourne and will be on the end of many thumpings.

Haven't thought about Burgoyne but has started well and has some easy games in a few weeks. As an upgrade target though i'm looking for someone who i know can do well.

Main problem with Hartlett- dem hammys

If you prefer consistency then maybe grimes, although hard to see him scoring as highly as he did today when the dees presumably will be losing more often than not. I started with hartlett and have been very happy with him as a POD apart from that 35 where he had injury complaints. I think he would be a good upgrade, injury and leaving you with a low subbed out score would be the main concerns.

yeah I've gone Barlow --> Mayes and Stevenson --> Hartlett this week, leaves me with 120k in the bank too 8)

Cheers for the thoughts guys.
Keep me coming, hard decision.Thinking Hartlett or Burgoyne tbh.

Got to be careful of how injury prone he is. Seriously think he was a start with or avoid player. Start with him and take all his good scores before he goes down, if you trade him in he's not going to make up his worth by the time he does go down.

note: I started him and am assuming he gets a (near) season injury at the bye +/- 2/3 rounds

Hartlett will tear it up. his scores! not his hammy...  :-X

I'll be trading him in next week for sure, ousting Viney and Martin for Mayes and Evans. will make 5 upgrades in the subsequent 3 weeks so a little sacrifice will go a long way (fingers crossed) :)

Correct me If I'm wrong but isn't that just sideways trading?

My thoughts was for example

Bartel to Mayes + Stevenson to Gibbs = Sideways trade
Viney to Evan + Pittard to Heppell = Upgrade
