Ok, so I've got $293,800 in the bank and am looking to upgrade Patton (ACL) to a forward worth $491,800 or less. I was originally planning on bringing in Westhoff, get his price rise for the next 1-2 weeks and then 'downgrade' him to a bottomed out Pavlich. However, with Pav being out for 4-6 weeks, I can no longer do this.

I actually started the season with NRoo in the plan to sideways him after the first month or so, but I kinda flowered up and traded him to Cloke after round 1 (who has now become Leuenberger ::)) I was never planning on finishing the year with Roo, but he is looking really good with scores of 82, 106 & 99 (albeit, against GC, Richmond, GWS) and I reckon he could finally be over his knee issues of last year and average 90+ easy. It would also make me feel better about trading him early.

Otherwise I can afford any forward besides Stevie J and Chapman...

Current forward line:

Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Robinson, Kennedy, Patton* (Neade & Dwyer)

Cheers.

He averages 105 against Essendon over his career, so lets see if he can beat that.

I have him currently as well, and will keep him until he loses form. He will be a decent price to sideways as well.

At this stage of the year it's all about the money so I'd bring in Westhoff over NRoo. As for scoring, the Hoff should score on a par with Riewoldt this week and probably next week but probably not as well over the whole season. I'd get on board while there's money and points to be made and then jump off when he's done.

Saint Kilda like Port had an easy (not as easy) start to the year, so it was always envisaged Nroo would do okay. Like Hoff, everyone will be watching the consistency over the next 5 games.

its me lads

Have you considered the Hoff?
I'm bringing him in this week for Zorko but if i were to bring in a trusted premo it would be Bartel.
Riewoldt seems more comfortable with his kicking now, seems like St.Kilda have stopped trying to turn him into a robot..
He is playing well but i'm not sure if he will finish in the top 6 forwards this year, Unlikely i say. I think top 6 forwards will be (in no particular order) Martin, Cox, Franklin, Bartel, Rockliff, Westhoff, to extend that to top 10 Stevie J, Thomas, Chapman and Cyril/Riewoldt if they're lucky

But hey, thats just my opinion.

Good to see someone else back's up my projected forward line ^
Only Martin and Buddy to go.

Interesting that you guys both have Westhoff sitting inside the top 6 forwards by years end. If I were to get him, it would be purely for the price rise. Don't see him averaging much more than 85ish tbh and definitely don't see him as a top 6-10 forward.

For the record, my top 6 forwards are at this stage (in no particular order)

Franklin, Rockliff, Stevie J, Robinson, Bartel & Daisy... Chapman, NRoo, Dusty and Pav to make up the top 10.

*Didn't include Coxy as I want him to finish in my rucks.

Too answer your question. Yes Nick Riewoldt can finish in the top 6 forwards this year. Personally I (and probably 70+% of people) don't think he will but if he keeps it up who knows what will happen.

Out of the 5 options:

Justin Westhoff (sideways him to SJ/Chappy in the next two weeks?)

Downgrade Kommer to Crouch (instead of K. Mitchell to Crouch) and get Stevie J
Dale Thomas

These two were are the ones I'm also considering. The only difference is I'm bringing in Franklin instead of Stevie J. In the end I've gone K Mitchell -> Crouch and Zorko -> Westhoff. If Westhoff raises another $50k and then probably another $20-40k I can then downgrade Westhoff -> Franklin, pocket some cash and hopefully Goodes has also raised enough by then so I can make another downgrade then it's a swap from Goodes -> Birchall. This new trade policy sucks because it takes away the wisdom aspect of the game and instead makes it 99.95% about cash. So I'm thinking the policy is here to stay (hopefully only until the end of this season) and if you can't beat them, join them. In your case it's tough, Dusty is also a great choice and you can expect solid 70-100 scores and the occasional blow out (hopefully we can see more of this). But in my opinion (and I put off Franklin for a few weeks for this) the cash from the Hoffy trade is too tempting and it's not a rookie so if he screws up you'll most likely be downgrading him to the 2nd most expensive forward. He is no way a keeper but with all the cheap ass players doing sideways trades every week why not even the playing field up :)

No he won't mate.
SJ
Chappy
Buddy
Daisy
Rockliff
Martin
Bartel
Cloke
Robsinon
Cox
and I still have faith in Zorko

All will be ahead of him. Its only 3 games in, averages can be easily deceiving.

Adam I would look at Patton to Lecca?

Windigo

The bloke is a superstar, he looks like he is moving much better than he has in recent times dues to his knee injury.

Averaged 106 as a key FWD! Buddy will never reach an average like that ever IMO...

I wouldn't be surprised if he averages a solid 90 across the year.

Can I just ask why you suggested Lecca when you don't think NRoo can be a top 6 forward? obviously he is good value, but I don't see him averaging more than 85. :P

Only because I think he will go 85-90+ pre byes. WCE's midfield is depleted and he will be played through there until they are  back to full strength. Also Eagles fixture is very tasty. This week they have the Blues, then Port, Bullies, Brisbane, North and GWS over the next few weeks. He scored 82 in just over a half when he was subbed off in round 1 then 81 in his return from a broken arm. I really wanna get him in but I have other issues.

Windigo

I'd still go a premium over a mid pricer if given the chance.

LeCras is good for coaches without another option.

Adamant

Well, well, well. Since this thread was made, NRoo has gone on to score 93, 153 & 117. He is indeed a top 6 forward in 2013.

My decision to trade him after round 1 and bring in Westhoff over him two weeks ago will haunt me forever. flower. ::)
