I'm going to counter you there and blame the umpires. Absolute crock!
My weekend is ruined.

Toga

Purple doesn't suit the umpires...

Absolute flowering joke of a loss. That is actually bullshower. Why was there not a score review there? Surely the umpire new the ball flowering hit him, would call it close to his cock but he doesn't have one obviously too weak to anger the home ground.

We should have iced that game, which we didn't do overly well but I am well and truly fuming with the umpires tonight. Terrible decisions all night not to mention that bullshower at the end.

Rant over but I'm sure ill have more to say tomorrow.

Look forwards to seeing Dimmas press conference, he knew what happened. Also looking forwards to seeing what the league has to say about that flowering crap.

AFEV

After they screwed up on ANZAC Day the umpires have gone 1 step lower tonight.

Feel for the Tiges after that one...

I'd like to see that vickery behind again.

Pretty sure it was a rushed behind. Vickery tried to kick it through, umpire stopped it from going across the line so just called play on...Then Hill carried it over.

After the three games so far (two of which I've seen), the umpiring's been shocking. The Anzac Day game between Bombers/Pies and now the Freo/Tigers game. I hope they're consistent and rob other teams this round with howlers. They cost us the game, especially that one goal umpire. Suffice to say he's not the most popular man right now.

These things happen and we have to deal with it, yes its unfortunate but these things happen to everyone all over the world.

You can blame the umpires guys but the fact is you played good intense footy in q1 and q4 and were lucky not to be blown away in the middle 2.
Just some observations from an outsiders perspective after quarter time:

Freo were first to the ball. Every lose ball it seemed freo had 3 players pushing onto it as hard as they could while one Richmond player was left to scrap it out for himself.

The second glaring fault was the thing we all learn in under 9's.. PLAY IN FRONT!!
How many times did Richmond get a hurried clearance forward only to have McPharlin mark it 5 metres in front of riewoldt or Johnson 5 meters in front of mcguanne. Basic footy.

3rd and final one was baffling to me. Who was playing on Walters? The amount of times that guy was by himself at half forward and inside 50 was ridiculous. I honestly couldn't tell u who played on him because no one was ever near him. You were lucky he didn't kick 6.

Actually I have 1 more. When you hit the front with 2 minutes to go...FLOOD! Even before the one Ballantine got you would have noticed there were 3 freo players running into an open goal unmanned but luckily for Richmond the ball beat them to the boundary line and was thrown in where the goal face was left open and Ballantine was able to run in for an easy snap. Unforgivable.

Toga

All very true and fair observations TeeJay. I agree with everything you said.

Think we really missed Stevie Morrie today, would have been a good help down back on their smalls.

I'll be the first to admit we were pretty poor in the middle two quarters, particularly Q2. But you cannot deny that the umpiring tonight was flowering appalling, particularly when the game got tight in the last quarter. We should have iced the game yes but Fremantle had too much help and favour from them today. Can't wait to see the verdict although I'm sure all match reports/reviews done by AFL.com will gloss over the glaring mistakes and bias in the umpiring.

Yes we should have won the game off of our own back but too much help from the umpires. A very one-sided affair.

TeeJay

Yeah umpiring was pathetic as it always is over there. The crowd pay the free kicks at pattersons. And the funny thing was the freo supporters all bood the umpires off like they had been harshly dealt haha.

quinny88

Shattered.

The flawes were obvious and teejay summed it up perfectly so i wont dwell on them or the umpiring but rather Looking on the bright side as there was plenty to take from that game.
We lost another close one yes but let's be honest that would have been a robbery if we did pinch it. They dominated that game for the majority and didn't put us away so it would have been a great steal. Doesn't sting as much as the ones we led for the last 10 minutes then dropped although it still hurts!
Vickers gets a massive tick from me. Took contested grabs, split the middle on every shot and looked dangerous for the first time since round 1. Only blunder was that horrible kick in defence that he turned over  :-[
Vlastuin is a ripper. Some of his tackling early on was unreal and the way he backed into that pack in the last quarter when the game was on the line was unreal from an 18 year old kid.
A 4 qtr effort from Martin was great to see. Willed himself into the game in the last quarter and wanted to be the difference which was great to see.
We were very ordinary for 2 quarters tonight and hung in there so I think that's a credit to where we are at these days not getting blown away like we may once have. Just gotta nail those close games! Freo at subi a massive task though and if you told me we would only lose by a point before the game I would be slightly shocked as I thought we would lose by 5-6 goals considering we were missing chappy, Morris, tucky, conca and kingy.

Bring on Geelong!

Jroo

Now that I'm a lot more calm, a few things from last nights game:
Positives:
But Ellis was great, hopefully he's not used as the sub again.
Cotchin was awesome when the game was on the line.
Vickery super impressive up forward.
Knights is a good inclusion.
Jacko destroyed he's opponent and had another good game.
Dusty didn't fade away after half time and had a super game. Nearly won the game in the last quarter for us, he's so dangerous.
Deledio worked hard even though he was tagged by Crowley.

Negatives:
Maric got destroyed in the ruck.
Petterd's kicking was woeful.
Nahas had very little influence when he came on.
Jroo had a shocker, beaten by McPharlin.

My votes, was hard to split the top 3.
5. Dusty
4. Ellis
3. Cotchin
2. Edwards
1. Jackson
Unlucky: Vickery, Knights and Houli

Nige

Maybe it's bias, but while I do agree that his kicking was woeful (though he wasn't alone it that department *cough* Ivan and Grigg *cough*), I thought he played a pretty good game otherwise...

Agree on the rest of the points though.

I'm still convinced that Luke McGuane's a new man this season and is relishing in his forward role.

Jroo

Anyone remember this during the first quarter

How was that not out on the full? Umpiring was TERRIBLE last night.

Yeah Jroo I don't know how many times I was like "UMPIRE WTF MATE THAT IS OUT".... Wasn't just the field umpires and that flowering goal umpire, the boundary umps were ordinary as well. >:(
