BUT

Well done Power. You were the better team on the day and deserved the win. It was clear you wanted it more and never gave up.

Adelaide need to do some serious soul searching this week...

Wines, Wingard, Boak, Hartlett will be stars for years.

I was wrong, Port Adelaide are the real deal!

TeeJay

Sorry but Port Adelaide are NOT the real deal. Adelaide are just ordinary.

Port played very well and deserved the win and they are playing some good footy but they wont be playing finals. Neither will Adelaide though. Too reliant on to few players

They are the real deal... Have improved so much since last season and will only get better.

Watch out for the AFL to be dominated by us South Aussie teams over the next half a dozen years

Ziplock

next two years, maybe

gc and gws are going to completely steal your thunder :P

So you think Adelaide and Port will both be playing finals this year?

Ziplock

I reckon they'll be fighting out for those 6-8th positions tbh :P

TeeJay, i notice  you are unlisted when it comes to club supported, yet no Adelaide team will make finals. You may be right bud, but put your sherrins on the line, rather than making big statements mate and name YOUR club. Thanks Jayman

I dont know how to label my team but im a Geelong supporter.
And the statement had nothing to do with my club so what does that matter? Went to my first showdown today and loved it but dont think either will play finals. Adelaide rely on Walker and Dangerfield to play well to much and Port are on a hot streak but are very young and inexperienced and will slow down eventually. Just my opinion

I disagree. I believe have a squad good enough to make the finals.. 7th or 8th and will give the better sides a hard time. Don't forget, they are still settling in with Ken's game plan too. They'll get better.

Fair enough mate, but maybe cause your team has had success lately, the rest of us are incapeable of making finals bit,is how you felt in 2005/2006. Just hope your view isn't clouded by your recent success, because you need to look at the last 50 years

TeeJay

My view and opinion is developed over 30 years of watching and being involved in football. Port have the nucleus of a great side but it is a young and inexperienced side and we see time and time again young sides get on hot streaks of form but then have a slump. Confidence is a massive thing in football and it is infectious and grows so quickly as we are seeing but the fact is they have belted Melbourne who are irrelevant in the competition at this stage as we saw the weeks following ports win when they were belted by even more. Gws at home should be a standard 10 goal+ win every day of the week and the Adelaide win was a great one but if the port boys were ever going to get up and about it was going to be for a showdown in front of their home crowd.

Taking nothing away from port they have started well and done everything right but I think it is a tad naive to think this form will last 22 weeks for such a young and inexperienced side.

After the Gold Coast next week things get interesting as they play West Coast, North, Richmond, Carlton, Geelong. All teams that are fighting for a top 8 spot.

Yes all fair points. I think the thing thats contributed to Melbourne's bigger losses sans Port was more due to their declining confidence than anything and Port would have grown in stature since. In summation: If Port played Melb next week, they'd win by 110 points...
