To me now the problem isn't AOD...it's the Thymosin...there's NO doubt that's banned, if it's proved the players took that.....then prepare for the "Death Penalty"

Only Thymosin beta-4 is banned, which there is no evidence it was beta-4. It probably isn't b4, but part of the problem is they are having trouble proving it decisively because of the lack of accurate recording of the supplement program. which is where the problem is.

I feel for her. But really, "he'll be 21 shortly"? how hard is it to say Ariel Steinberg?

You know what I find weird - is why the parents matter?

I know parents obviously care about there kids and how they are treated, but I find it fascinating why the parents are involved at all (suppose its a club thing).

I mean, if my work announced job cuts or anything that would impact my work, they wouldn't call my parents to chat about how they are looking after me. These guys (with a couple of exceptions) are over 18 and adults!

Agree, its hard to come up with an analogy, but say work was slipping stuff in everybody's coffee to improve productivity... I still don't think they'd call my mum.

They wouldn't call you're mum but she would be annoyed/angry/upset if she found out.

I think you were right with this comment. A football club is different from a normal workplace in that it's like a big family. Parents and partners feel like they are a part of the club even though they are not employed there.

Off topic, but does anyone else just feel like going "Why the hell should I bother any more"?. I mean, don't get me wrong I still consider myself an Essendon supporter but at the same time I just have this feeling of total and utter helplessness and apathy, it's not fun any more. I honestly feel like "Hey the NFL season starts in two weeks, who needs the AFL?". I just don't know how to deal with that

I can understand that feeling! I know a few Melbourne supporters who have similar feelings (for very different reasons)

My lad turns 21 in 8 days Os, and yes he is an adult (still lives at home but ). I would still be mighty p1ssed off if his soccer club had done similar things involving him. I think it's a parents undevoted love for their kids , regardless if they are 10, 20, even 40. Again, I realise most, if not all are adults in this situation, but also feel there may of been some pressure to follow club lines

Yeah, no doubt no matter how old your kids are you want to see them looked after. That's not in question (been a father for 9 weeks and understand that already!)

I just still find it strange for a business - and that's what Essendon is - to call the parents in to discuss. Not saying its right or wrong, just weird.

Agree about EFC being a business, but most footy clubs promote a family type culture, rather than some business's I've worked for. They would kick my butt to the curb in an instant lol

Grazz

I think "Sarah the mother who rang in is just your typical mum who adores her children.  Cant say I wouldnt do the same as a father. What it tends to show to me is that even the parents have been kept in the dark as to what exactly their kids got given as the records the club kept was done so poorly they don't know (I find this very hard to believe by the way, someone knows). As a parent I fully understand why things have been very stressful at home for her, her son and family, if you are prone to worrying there is a lot to worry about none less than what will these substances do to my kid down the track, my grandkids etc which are all valid concerns when nobody can say what was given to their son.

The constant contact and updating of parents would be done by every club in this situation, it would be a PR nightmare not to. Can you imagine any parent wanting to send their kid to play for Essendon if they kept silent to the family's after what they have allegedly done.

I feel for the players in this I really do, I think they may be punished for being to trusting of those who had a duty of care to them.
They are by all accounts so far very much the victims in this who are also about to be punished, now that's never right is it but in the situation ASADA/WADA are justified by regulations to be able to punish. There is so much right and wrong all stirred into together, it's hard to gauge your own feelings as to what should or shouldn't happen. Just one bloody big mess is what it is and everyone is watching.

So much contradiction which adds to the confusion. You really have to pick through it and pick out what is fact and what is interpretation or misinformation and even then we wont get it all right anyway.

But this is a pretty simple case of black or white. It was either banned or it wasn't. If ASADA weren't sure and someone from their organisation told Graham that it was fine, then that's their fault.

Doing a bit of research on the drug, I can't see how it could not be a banned substance...

That's the contradictions im speaking of regarding AOD/9604's legality. Dr Andrew Grahams statement, the statement from ASADA that it has never cleared the use of the drug to anyone then the letter that Essendon allegedly have that says it is ok. As you have seen a 5 minute search on google tells you nope cant go here. This is where I fear ASADA/WADA will get the players under the clause ignorance is no excuse, wether said drug is supplied by a Doctor the onus is on the player/athlete to be certain he/she can take it.
I feel for the players and I think its a massive wake up call for the AFL and all the clubs/players in it that we are bound by the WADA anti drug code as much as any Olympian, I really feel all involved AFL/NRL have been very amateurish about the programs they may be running. Hard to explain it any other way.
yeah but a 5 minute search on google and i found the thing about blood injections and ASADA saying that was banned
so google not always reliable....lol
