you never heard of loopholes etc ::)

Regardless of whether Essendon can avoid sanctions or not through technical loopholes shouldn't be the concern for Essendon.

The AFL punishes hard for bringing the came into disrespute. Essendon's practices were shady at best, the players clearly weren't fully informed. The AFL will punish Essendon in my opinion, regardless of the outcome of this investigation.

And Essendon supporters should welcome this punishment, and move on.

ASADA is a branch of WADA.It was on their list as well.No escaping ,sorry fellas it is was banned.
As dramatic as it sounds, the rest of the world spots are watching this issue. If we let them get off the rest of the world will come down on us like a ton of bricks. This does not just have implications for the AFL,this is world wide.We screw this up we become the laughing sock of the sporting world.
THE SUBSTANCE WAS BANNED.

It's banned under a clause for non human approved substances which is different and as sid has said there ARE legal ways of obtaining it. This isn't at all clear cut and if it was this would be over by now. But continue going on like you have read more than one article in the paper written by someone paid to create drama.
I have read more than one article on the issue. It is BANNED regardless of who you read or what you read. WADA banned the substance as of 1st of January 2011. WADA say it is a banned substance that is the final say on the matter.

That's the final say? So where is the guilty verdict? Oh thats right there is none yet.

Agreed Ossie. I'd say a few more heads up top could role + a fine. Players will be fine but will probably go to court on that.

kilbluff1985

Oh yes and almighty great big fine is on its way that's for sure but should go to charity not the AFL

the only thing that will help essendon is official correspondence from asada/ wada that told them it was ok to use... basically it's dependent on an error on asada/ wada part.

if they don't have that, they're going to get flowered, and rightly so.

there's a document floating around that was sent from ASADA to the Federal Police which states it's not a banned subtance

Does anyone give the Bombers even a small chance at winning a match in the finals?

So big announcement on 360 tonight (or last night).

ASADA confirmed AOD 9604 was legal under clause S2. Considering the S0 clause was only for substances that weren't classified under ANY OTHER CLAUSE, it gets us completely off the hook concerning AOD 9604.

Furthermore, the AFL had knowledge that AOD was legal since February.... For 7 months they've kept this quiet, not confirming this was the case, just let the media destroy our reputation. We couldn't say anything due to the ongoing investigation while they have leaked like a... leaky tap.

Then they charge us with bringing the game into disrepute? This is beyond a joke.

Yes, the AFL suck also for sure. But if Essendon had kept even the basics of good record keeping, this whole thing would have been avoided. The AFL could have handled it better for sure, but I feel the blame still lies with Essendon.

The whole thing could have been avoided had the AFL come out in February and said that the drug we were alleged (at the time) to have taken was completely 100% legal. But instead they kept quiet and they let it drag on for seven months.
Jobe gave them the perfect opportunity to come clean when he said on national TV that he believed he had taken AOD 9604. Instead of coming clean, the AFL let the media drag his name through the mud for weeks.
One simple statement: AOD 9604 is legal.
