Essendon coach James Hird has been accused of injecting a WADA-blacklisted drug in a program
where his players were given another substance anti-doping regulators now say should be banned.

The sports scientist who ran the club's supplement program, Stephen Dank,

said he injected James Hird with hexarelin which WADA banned in 2004 -

and that before and during the 2012 AFL season, players were given anti-obesity drug AOD9604.

AFEV

Well for one AOD9604 is not ASADA or WADA banned at this point in time so not concerned with that.
James Hird has also denied the claims.
Quote''These claims are horrifying to me, and are being made by a person or people who appear determined to destroy my reputation.''
Even if he did take them, it's not against the rules for coaches to take substances banned for PLAYERs. Cold and flu tablets are banned, yet I am all but certain the majority of AFL coaches have taken them.

The article Caroline Wilson has blurted out is absolutely disgraceful might I add. Calling for Hird to step down. ???
She ought to be very careful, it was accepted when she (baselessly) slandered Essendon as an entity, but you could argue her most recent article was attacking James Hird as an individual. Will get sued for defamation if/when Hird is cleared the rate she is going.

FTR, this is not exactly a new development. Dank said some time ago that the coaching staff was on some banned stuff, but said (and still says) all the substances given to players were given the ASADA tick.

Caroline Wilson is absolutely disgraceful. I have no patience with negative journalism with no substance.

All her articles read like fact, but you look at what is actually said, and you struggle to see what the fuss is about. This article in particular I had to read a couple of times to try and find what the issue was, and it was horribly written btw. In the end, its another 'he said - he said' article. Boring.

Another piece of unsubstantiated gutter journalism form Caroline. Full of snide innuendo and lacking in factual substance......congratulations Caroline, you're staying true to form

Lay off Hird!! Dank has zero credibility to his name, a disgrace to the game. Hird is an icon of the game.

the australian democratic system goes by the theory that you're innocent until proven guilty.

If essendon are found guilty of drug cheating, and let's say hypothetically 15 of their players get banned for 2 years from the afl, then Hird should stand down.

until then though, flower off.

It is easy to say but difficult to do. So for this blame. Without investigate properly no one should be charged. However, as the question arisen a quick neutral investigation should be done as soon as possible for the sake of AFL.

so eloquently put  :P........and yes there are a number of investigations currently underway, the sooner they're concluded the better for everyone involved and football in general

i don't get it but, these claims aren't new. Dank already made these claims on 7:30 report months ago, it's just more specific now.

the real problem is media

> Age got the new details on a story gone cold
> Opportunity to get the jump on all the other news outlets, because they are first
> Break the news spinning it as extreme as possible.
> Get skank-face-mc-flower burger to make a bold contraversial statment "stand down"
> Get massive media hype/frenzy over trying to catch up/get the next scoop
> Which inturn gives more attention again
> Age profit

P.S. I really want her to get cancer, she deserves it.
