Dustin Martin thought

Does anyone else think that it may be a set play by Richmond every week to make Dustin run rampant in the midfield as much as he can in the first half then in the second half when he is spent play him forward?

Or is it just he is not very fit and I am looking into it too much...

lolamusi

Only thing i was surprised by was his ball efficiency :-[

Flame

He is a first half specialist!!

I just want a ton out of him!

KoopKicka

I dont mind this first half specialist thing, means he will be a lot more consistent than other forwards, albeit if its only 80-90, and will have FWD DPP next year.

Windigo

Only thing stopping him from being a gun is the 2nd half fade outs.

In saying that, I'd take 90 odd from any day...

Toga

When Richmond's opponent has been starting to get a run on them, Dimma has turned to Dusty to try to solve the fwd line problems... He parks Dusty up at full forward, because of his strength and one-on-one ability, while the other fwds just clear out of the fifty..

So I'm still not convinced that it's a case of him running out of fuel, it could well be just a part of Richmond's game plan...

I'm not unhappy with his efforts last night though!

I've seen the same thing in both games mate. It may well be their way of raising his fitness.

Dusty was on fire in the first half, but for most of the second half he was sitting at full forward.

henry

His endurance is getting better though, yesterday he got 39 in the 2nd half, last year I remember him often only getting 20 something in the 2nd half.

RookieDTer

If he could get a 93 each week, I'd be satisfied!

Kodboys

It's looking like he'll get 40+ in the first half for sure.. but second half is his fadeout.. honestly.. if he keeps 75+.. i'd be happy.

AndyJ

If this first half dominance from Dusty is so evident .. watch teams put a hard tag on him in the beginning then move their attention to the cotchins & delids as the game wears on. Something to keep in mind.

+1 I'll be happy with a 90+ avg for the season.
Could be a deliberate strategy to use him in the mids in the first half to get the Tigers off to a flyer, and then Cotchin steps up in the 2nd half while Martin moves forward. Cotch spent a bit of time in fwd 50 in the first half so it could be clever tactics by Hardwick!

If he works on his fitness he could average in the 100's. Both games he was 50+ at half time and then in the second half just disappears. Still happy with his 93 though. I don't think his breakout will be this season though. If I had to predict he won't have a 100+ breakout until after 2 or 3 seasons in the midfield
