Probably in the same boat as a few others on here.

Have: Jacobs, Blicavs, Rowe & Daw. Cox in FWD

Was hoping to get another week or so of price rice from a rookie before jumping on leuey. Is it worth getting on him this week for Daw to stay in contention or should I be content and wait to see how Daw/Rowe play.

It's just those 30 trades are just sitting there doing nothing looking like a freshly opened tub of Nutella ready to be dug into  :P

felsty

im in the exact same boat.. i say sit back and wait. for all you know he may get the red vest to get a bit more run and carry into the brissie side and he would still need to be managed somewhat i would imagine..

Ringo

Can not see him getting the red vest Felsty unless Brisbane are well ahead or being well beaten given only 2 forward talls named in Brownie and Martin.  Can see him resting in goal square though.

Personally I would definitely hold off and see how he goes. I traded Leuey to Z. Smith, will reverse that when Leuey is on the bubble if he's performing well, when hopefully I've had one (small) increase from Smith. But Leuey still unproven for my mind...

lowry

I have Longer :S and I don't have enough money to get Leuey, what should I do? Downgrade a mid pricer to a rookie (I don't have Viney/Terlich/Stevenson) then Longer to Leuey?

How is Leuey looking atm.  Does anybody have the report on how he went last week, and at training and whether he seems fully fit.  I have Watts in the fwd line and thinking of watts to leuey with Cox to go fwd.  I can wait til next week, but tempted to pull the trigger now if Leuey is ready.  If hes not, then I'm happy to wait a week and see how he goes.

Think he played the whole game last week and scored 120+ SC points in the reserves

I'm breaking the cardinal rule of no round 1 trades to bring him in this week, just in case I need to make 2 correctionals next week. Taking a gamble that he's healthy.

Yes contemplating the same, watts to Leuey for the same reason, as 2 more correctives may be required next week.

Not something i would have done in years gone by, but with 30 trades it's somethng we can look at.

Personally would wait n see as could pull up sore n then maybe could miss a week or two

Here are a couple of quotes from Lions that may assist.
From the selection committee

"After proving his fitness with the Lions Reserves in recent weeks, Matthew Leuenberger will also prove a welcome return in the centre.

“It’s great for Leuey personally, as well as the team, that he’s ready to go,” Fletcher said.

“His ability to get around the ground should give us some more speed in the middle, and he can also rotate through the forward line if needed.”

“We expect him to play a full game â€" we wouldn’t have selected him unless we thought he was capable of doing just that.”

“We think Billy (Longer) has done a fantastic job, but he only young and still developing his game.”

From Voss

DON'T expect Matthew Leuenberger to waltz back into the Brisbane Lions and be their saviour, warns coach Michael Voss.

Leuenberger will play his first senior match in almost 12 months on Saturday when he runs out against Adelaide at the Gabba.

The 204cm ruckman injured his Achilles in round three against Fremantle last season and has taken a cautious approach to returning.

After playing a full match in the reserves last weekend, Voss said it was a difficult decision to squeeze him in ahead of teenager Billy Longer.

Longer was outmuscled by Western Bulldog Will Minson in the 68-point round-one loss, but was one of few Lions to make a real effort.

"Billy was doing some good things. That was a tough selection for us," Voss said on Friday.

"But to have 'Leuey' back there, he's like an extra midfielder, he gets around the ground, he's able to win possessions, he spreads really well and he's very good around contests.

"Our expectations are still … he needs to contribute and put his head down and give us a contest and if we get some of those other things, that's a bonus, but we've got to realise he needs a few weeks to get his mojo back."

Voss said he was confident in Leuenberger's fitness after the West Australian completed the majority of the pre-season.
