Took a while to calm down after yesterdays insipid performance and our worst of the year.

These comparisons over last weeks and this weeks games explains a lot:

The stats of our "Big Four" (Martin, Rockliff, Beams and Zorko) this week compared to last week makes for sorry reading.

Vs Port Adelaide: 84 disposals (17 clangers), 24 contested possessions, 15 marks, 17 clearances, 11 tackles, 9 inside 50s, 1 goal.

Vs Bulldogs: 116 disposals (17 clangers), 48 contested possessions, 27 marks, 27 clearances, 21 tackles, 15 inside 50s, 3 goals.

Damning Stats from our Senior Players who need to show the example to the younger brigade,

Our tackling really needs to lift as too easily Port Players were breaking them too easily.

Need the whole team to play with the commitment and intensity Robbo and Squizzy did yesterday.

Not too confident in our next two games against teams who are below us on ladder.

Not the issue KB but they are Leaders and when they are down flows down to others.

How did Barrett go on the weekend ? surely he gets a run now McCluggage was very quiet , can't hold Barrett forever may have to unload him in a week or 2

NEAFL had a bye shaker so no pressure there. But agree Clug was quiet and he could come in but Basti and Beastmode also had strong games last week. If one of these come in for him this week would definitely unload Barrett. FWIW I also have Barret and been holding him. Paparone also returned in the last game.

Wasn't the whole reason they drafted him (and apparently would have taken him over Weits at 1) because he wanted to go to Brisbane?

Yep that was the reason - As we know managers like throwing "smoke screens" for the better of their clients. As I have said before all draftees should be given 3 year contracts initially to really settle into a club. Will alleviate the pressure 19 year old kids are under with their next contracts and form suffers. Hope he stays for the benefit of the club but if he wants to go we can not stop him.

We will continue to be a struggling club if the AFL removes academy and father/son concessions for us with pressure from the Melbourne clubs. To be honest I think us and the Suns should be allowed to have more access to local talent to avoid these go home factors. We lose some talent to southern clubs because we do not have enough points to keep and have to let go.

It is difficult for young talent to come up here where AFL is not in the foreground that they have grown up with. The Clubs social and welfare officers do their best but it is hard. The most successful one Craig Lambert is currently serving a 12 month ban as well.

Basically says lions expect an answer from Schache in 2 weeks during their bye.

Rumour has it that Carlton and Richmond could be the destined clubs so why would he leave a club that will be on the rise for these trash teams ;D ;D
