Still not getting excited though - Ports poor kicking in 2nd quarter cost them.  Again letting some goals in red zone and need to make tackles stick for 4 quarters. Thems the negatives.
We are heading in the right direction and the team seems to have confidence in one another. McCarthy has to be the bargain trade for us. Loved that Mark right in front of us.

Well deserved win by the Lions. Did me a favour by comprehensively winning beyond the Meals free kick (avoiding memories of Shuey).

I really think they are the real deal and hope they can have a strong finish to the season considering what the club has been through since 2010.

Yeah a few dubious umpiring decisions going both ways and missed throws in 2 of Port goals as well so in a way p[leased with win and the size. $ goals in the last 5 minutes cemented it and the crowd was the noisiest in that 10 minutes than I haver heard for years.

Christensen keeping pressure on the 22. Saw Bailey had some ice on his leg during the last quarter on the weekend, could come in if he's injured. Hinge and Wooller both pressing for debuts.

Skinner and Lester also amongst best in NEAFL.  Would like to see Skinner get a chance this year.

Good reality check this week.

Hello 2016 my old friend

Ringo

No need to panic and although reality check agree a couple of things may have changed a little.

In first half when Bombers ran riot Hipwood dropped 3 marks he normally would have taken and had shots on goal.
Cameron had 3 shockers from close range 2 of which rebounded with goals to bombers.  So a turn around of 24 points effectively.
Need to be on song from the bounce against Pies and this will be reinforced this week by Fags. What changes if any will we make this week.
Lester starred in the Neafl and Keays kicked 6 goals to keep the pressure on. Will Lester come in for Nick Robertson.  Also need to consider squizzy for Christensen in my opinion. Corey Lyons could be putting pressure on his brother who had a sub par performance yesterday.

Looks like Bailey has pinged the string again  :'(

Rushed him back I reckon, conditions didn't suit someone just coming off a hammy either.

Bailey did play a full game in the NEAFL last week though.

Was disappointing to see an old trait from the last couple of years appear again 7 of dogs goals were scored in the last 5 minutes of quarters including 3 in second quarter when Doggies gained the momentum. Whilst we have shown a lot of improvement our defence still leaks goals.  Been watching this for a few weeks now and we seem to have trouble reacting quickly to turnovers as a result of attacking when we should be controlling. Have to find a balance similar to what Pies do.

Already got more wins this year than last year 8)

Big question - Will Hodge fly to Perth? Maybe the injury was to see if we could cope without the general down back.

Umpiring decisions in last quarter nearly cost us the game but in saying that thought umpiring as a whole was sub standard and frustrated both teams with the inconsistency. Quite a few times during the game teams were unsure as to which way the penalty went.

On the game itself despite a few turnovers was Witherdens best game for the year, Kicking for goal still an issue, Robbo wears his heart on his sleeve and I love it, Need to react more quickly to defend turnovers, Neale definitely the trade of the year (Beams who remembers him) and Zorks seems to be hitting his highs again.
