Captain will be decided towards the end of preseason and for what it is worth reckon it will one of these 3 Rocky to continue, or the Daynes Beams or Zorko.

Also reckon it will be a make ir break season for Ryan Lester and Liam Dawson.

Also read that report on Rocky and makes sense especially the withdrawing when things not going well.  Will need to win back a bit of respect though following that untimely tweet.

Money Shot

For those that went to the training, how did Tom Bell look? Thought he was going to be a star at Carlton and was really sad to see him go. Didn't do much last year though ::)

Ringo

Training with the rehab group at the moment MS. So waiting to see in the new year. Still looks nice and solid physically.

GoLions

From the BLT facey page:

Lions intraclub match today. I think it might still be going, but some main points to take away:

- Jake Barrett put in a very good performance after qtr time.
- Lewy Taylor looking to move the ball forward and more direct. No circles.
- Schache dominant.
- Andrews evidently been spending time in the gym.
- McCluggage played first half. Didn't accumulate too much of the ball but absolutely exquisite disposal efficiency.

Beams, Bell and Christensen not fit to play. Still recovering from injuries.

The other from this report.

"Tom Rockliff, on the way back from an Achilles niggle, played the second half and got through well."

Jukes

Ringo

Was not there Jukes but suspect he did.  Will try and confirm for you. It was virtually a Probables v Possibles match. Fagan has stated that JLT form will be considered for Rd 1 and he will be playing strongest available team each week.

Cheers mate, I really rate the kid (as both a fantasy prospect and a footballer) so hopefully he can get a shot this season, preferably early for my AXVIII side! :P

Great to know that in 2 years we'll have the best 2 forwards in the competition, Schache and Harris.

Ringo

Ladies 4/4 so come on guys you need to win as many as ladies to save face.  ;)

Will need a bigger venue than brendale for finals though.

Dayne Beams will Captain the Brisbane Lions in 2017.

The 27-year-old will lead a seven-man Leadership Group charged with upholding and driving the Club’s values.

Tom Rockliff has been named as Vice-Captain, while Dayne Zorko has been appointed Deputy Vice-Captain.

Beams, Rockliff and Zorko will be supported by Stefan Martin, Allen Christensen, Ryan Lester and Harris Andrews, who offer a balance of experience and youth.

Beams arrived at the Lions in 2015 after spending six years at Collingwood, where he won a Premiership Medal in 2010. He is expected to play a big part in the midfield this season, having now recovered from the string of injuries which affected his 2015 and 2016 campaigns.

General Manager of Football David Noble praised Beams for his strong leadership qualities.

“Dayne is someone who inspires the guys around him to get the best out of themselves, both on and off the field. He is a family man, and has grown into a leader in the short time that he has been at the Club,” said Noble.

“Each of the seven members of the Leadership Group are passionate about helping Brisbane become relevant again, and will continue to drive the direction we are heading in, living the standards that are expected of our professional footballers."

“The range of experience in this group is an affirmation of our expectation that players of all levels strive to be leaders and uphold our core values."

Whilst Leading Teams facilitated the development of the players trademark and behaviours, the football department and CEO recommended the leadership group and structure to the Board.

Thoughts on this - Reasonably happy and great to see young Harris Andrews included in the leadership group. Potential Leader of the club so give him all the help early. Lester is a bit of a surprise though,

frenzy

Did not see that coming. Does Rocky drop his bundle now, or no real effect?

Ringo

No real effect Frenzy as Rocky has expressed allegiance to the club and new Captain.  I t was virtually know from end of last season that it was highly unlikely that Rocky would retain captaincy.

So thoughts on Rockliff hanging around?. Kid on the way house completed with Chris Fagan hoping for his signature. 6months ago he was a deadset certainty to be gone.
