Pie in the Sky, or a Brilliant Plan ??

With the change in rules this year l'm planning on using the 2 trades a week to my advantage. Here's my long range plan (4 weeks).

My current team is.....

Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Goodes, Pittard, Stevenson (Terlich, Heath)
Ablett, Swan, Watson, Pendles, Moloney, Embley, Wines, Viney (O'Meara, Mitchell)
Cox, Smith (Blicavs, Daw)
Franklin, Rocky, Zorko, Robbo, Karnezis, Macaffer (Neade, Rowe)

This week l'm planning on trading out Robbo & Smith  for  Monfries & Goldstein

Next week l'm trading Zorko for JJKennedy (before Zork goes down and JJK goes up)

The week after that l'll trade out JJK & Monfries and get Robbo and Zorko back in with a net cash benefit of about $90k .......with a profit on JJK ($25k) & Monfries ($10k), and a saving buying back Robbo ($30k) & Zorko ($25k)

And the week after that get in Leuey & Crouch on the bubble, trading......

Mitchell & Blicavs  for  Leuey & Crouch, with the profits made by the bubble trades

This would then leave my team like this for round 5......

Goddard, Gibbs, Heppell, Goodes, Pittard, Stevenson (Terlich, Heath)
Ablett, Swan, Watson, Pendles, Moloney, Embley, Wines, Viney (O'Meara, Crouch)
Goldstein, Leuey (Rowe, Daw)
Cox, Franklin, Zorko, Rocky, Robbo, Karnezis (Macaffer, Neade)

l think l've been a bit conservative with my cash estimations and think this outcome is really achievable, but even if things dont go exactly to plan there are other bubble options that will work too.

Then not long after that there will be some cash cows ready to be upgraded too......Moloney will be very close to becoming a 5th premium mid by round 6

Let me know what you think guys, l'm interested in all opinions

Its a nice plan but I can guarantee you will need at least 2+ trades over this period for injuries/omissions/etc
Remember the carnage from last year :-\

Yeah thats always a possibility, but if it does l'll just have to adjust things like everyone else who's affected.

But with the change in rules l wanted to try and map out a plan instead of just moving forward add-hock

Like it Nostra, i am trading along those lines.

thats a pretty good plan, but ur round 5 team looks similar to the good round 1 teams when they have used no trades, only benefit would be the extra 100k u get but are all those trades worth it?

not sure of ur money situation but id just trade robbo and smith for leuie and goldy and move cox forward. I don't reckon losing 5 or 6 trades is worth a 'possible' 90k. by the look of it u will be 8 trades down going into round 5.

Looks like a good plan, as long as you can avoid injuries and still pick up blokes on the bubble. Don't forget that Jones will be on the bubble next week and he looks likely to net you 90k by himself.

l can see your reasoning for suggesting Robbo & Smith out for Goldy & Leuey, but l'd end up without Robbo, and thats the whole point of the plan ......to keep what l have and gain some better players through shuffling the decks

Over the course of my plan l would lose Smith ($300,700) & Blicavs ($108,500), and gain Goldstein ($407,300) & Leuenberger ($233,600)......which is a net gain of $231,700 plus a little for the kitty too

But l disagree about "losing" 8 trades, we have 2 trades per week (use 'em or lose 'em), so after 4 weeks of using 2 trades a week l'll have just as many as everyone else for the rest of the season, regardless of how many they've used, 36

ahh my bad nostra, thought i was commenting on a supercoach thread, i do both but got mixed up. i resend my wasting trades statement then, pretty good shuffling on ur behalf to make some coin. i wouldn't trade zorko tho, scored low last week but didn't get much mid time. just for the loss of points between JJK and him id try and find someone else to get rid of.

it might not end-up being Zorko, but it will be my most serious underperformer for someone on a big bubble.........and then they'll be traded back in the following week

If all things align, then go for it. at least have some kind of plan if there is no surprises.

As the old saying goes "take it 1 week at a time'. after 1 round a lot of people are fretting at changes such as trading robbo, zorko etc and some got stuck with longer and will trade him for the berger and so on and son.

I can guarantee that over the next 4 weeks that you are planning for, some injury, omission or the like will occur and for you to ignore reacting to those has the potential for you to lose out. Calculate over those 4 weeks the potential loss of points if a premo goes down or some of your rookie selections are rested, resulting in you missing price rises etc.

Will the the $90k you are predicting out do the potential score and price increases you miss out on if injury/omitted rook occurs.

for eg.

Robbo >JJk. Robbos 21 only runs in cycle for 1 week. Now assuming he scores well over the next few rounds you will have to pick him up at the precise time of his drop. If you miss it, it will cost you. Now throw in an injury to premo and say a suspension (to mix it up) the week you want to bring robbo back in, what do you do? you will lose points or cash.

I say, by all means have a plan like you state but be carefull getting rid of prems for these guys or you may get burned

Everything you say is spot on, and there is a chance of things going pear shaped if l'm not careful, or have a run of bad luck. For this reason l deliberately didnt include any cashcows in my plans, so if something does go wrong then l can cash one of them in to keep my plan alive

Sounds like you've thought it over. like I said organise a plan, but have a plan B if surprises pop up.
