Personally I reckon if the supercoach app was made free, a lot more people would sign up. I think it's turning the people away who mostly use their phones for casual entertainment.
Spot on. This.

Also alot of workplaces are now regulating website use to stop lost time in Supercoach, Facebook etc, so alot of office comps are no longer around.

Byes, rolling lockout, more trades, Hun free bullshower advice for novices and no free live content all adds up also. I have the Footy Star app, but im not paying for the Supercoach app. So I have to have my phone and computer going at once to keep up to date.. Now for people that dont care as much, why would they bother!

Although I did just refresh my Supercoach page and theres an extra 1000 entrants now...

i guess a lot of office and casual league only type players dont care about overall so might take them a round or two to finalize and set up leagues and what do they care if they miss a round or two not going for overall?

I reckon it may well have something to do with Champion Data's integrity and its reputation for the subjective inconsistent scoring system that definitely needs addressing.
Don't get me wrong, the idea of scoring points more for contested marks, accurate kicks and effective/match-winning moments, etc. etc. is a great idea and superior to the Dream Team scoring system.
The problem is that the way Champion Data administers it is at best erratic and often downright ridiculous, inaccurate and unfair.
Many of my mates and people at work have gone back to Dream Team for this reason.

I made a post about this maybe last year, there is no way any corruption, even if its just for the weekly prize, can be monitored

Lets just say I got flamed...it was only a discussion, I didnt claim it to be true!

Anyways, back to OP, I have noticed this year in the rules it clearly states only 1 team per person is allowed, pretty sure previous years didnt say this. I know last year I abused people when it became apparent they had more than 1 team, even in the same league the rude buggers!.

I agree with all the extra trades, rolling lockouts and such it is making the game less appealling to me. There is total saturation in the media now, there is no reward for research as every man and his donkey gets notified who to pick. It has gone way too far that this year we will see teams very similar much earlier than last year. Bad choices can be reversed before lockout, too many trades. I guess theyre making the game appealing to children now.

There is a massive disadvantage now to us people that are not iwanks, and dont have smart phones. With the rolling lockout & captain loophole, any kid with a smart phone has a massive advantage over us fossils that still use bricks and dont sit by the computer before every game.

Im starting to hear advertised other fantasy competitions starting up, I think it will be worth checking those out next year, where research and knowledge will be rewarded. Where not every man and his fish head mate gets choices handed to them by the media.

CFC 1979

I didnt mean to blame the HUN, I meant to highlight the fact of media saturation, this was just an example.
