Anyone else noticed how low the supercoach numbers are this season? Only about 282,000 coaches this year. I'm sure it was over 400,000 coaches just 2 years ago.. Seems to be dropping every year

At least we have more than DT  :P
Yeah seems to be a drop off in both competitions. Not sure why though?

Mind you, lots of teams are created just to try and win a round prize.

I know it's weird. I thought both had been advertised a lot more this year and built up and with all the rule changes to help everyone out and make the game easier.. Certainly hasn't worked

I think it is to do with the crappy round 1 over two weeks that the last two years have had. Makes things much harder for the casual gamer.

Anyone else think people got sick with all the rule changes to make it easier?  ::)

all the byes and rolling start are annoying. Subs annoying (rule change no better - means you need access before every game!). But what pisses me of most of all is that you cant get live SC scores anymore (without paying), the app costs $, SC gold cost $, Herald sun cost $...

Download footy star and you get live scores

Wait a couple of weeks and see... a lot of people set second/third teams up with all the people that have performed to win the weekly highest score prize... hope none of them win it! bloody cheats. Plus a lot of new comers start round 2 because they see people talking about it and want to set up a team with the help of the round 1 scores... thats how i started 3 years ago... i didnt have had a clue back then... some would argue i still dont!

Quite a shame to see numbers dropping off than again as teams start off with shower scores they will create multiple teams to try and save themselves from embarrassment

i think the byes from last year put quite a few off. i know it did from my own leagues. these weren't hardcore fans - it doesnt matter if i now explain to them the rules are different. The damage is done - not enough planning was done last year by VS.
I also think supercoach has turned people off with its no live scores. Again, this doesnt appeal to the average player. Why would they bother to pay for assistant coach/digital subscribe/app whichever small product gives them the scores. Heck, i dont pay for it because i believe its information that should be free.
Finally i think the rolling lockout also turns away average players. Why should they be glued to a computer all weekend? The hardcore players (eg ff community) will always play. The average player will not, and will not want constant hands on maintenance.

However the numbers will jump alot over the next month.

Cool9

I think the increasing complexity is putting off some casual players. But there's always new registered teams coming online over the first few rounds

I have SC Gold 9 assistant coach thing) all it gives me this season is breakevens. dont get live scores, everyone gets the draft game that used to only come with the gold subscription.

flowering rip off. i buy that then they expect me to buy something else to get live scores - filthy.

killers of fantasy football = cost - subs - split rounds - byes - easy rules (puts veterans off) - complicated rules ( puts casual players off)

and dangerfield  ;D

Footy star app is free.

Personally I reckon if the supercoach app was made free, a lot more people would sign up. I think it's turning the people away who mostly use their phones for casual entertainment. Also, it would be good if we could choose to have smaller leagues so those who don't have a lot of supercoach friends could play without having to deal with other players who get auto-added to the game to get the full 18 teams.
