Getting a major headache trying to find rookies that are actually going to play and string a few games together early in the season. The backs and mids are easy but the rucks and forwards are very shallow.

Every team has just about the same rookies in the ruck. 2 of:
Currie
Daw
Rowe
Blicavs
Witts

Not one of those guys has any sort of job security. In fact it could be a case where none of them even play round 1...

In the forwards the only names I'm seeing are Macaffer, neade and lee. And now I'm hearing Lee has been ruled out of rd1.

Are there any other rookies out there in these positions to consider?
Who do you think will string a few games together early in the season?

Marstar

With the Rowe/Cox swing you'd have to be pretty unlucky to cop a donut. So my advice is picking the 2 you see playing the most games over the whole season. Rather than a string of early games. You can always downgrade the one who makes the most money late in the season.

Rucks:

Rowe - Lock. Nuff said.
Currie - Any injury to Goldie and he's playing games. Lock.
Daw - Will sell tickets to games. Roos need the cash. Consider.
Blicavs - Might get early games to prove he's not only good enough as a ruck, but can possibly get games in other roles later. Consider.
Witts - Maybe more opportunities next year. Pass.

Forwards:

Spanger played all of the NAB series. Not the cheapest. Monitor.

Best bet is for the 'downgrade targets' to return. A fit Stalker might get the ball rolling. Excepted return Round 3.

Best i can research for now Quinny.

Yeah thanks marstar, I agree on some but I'm probably not as optimistic as you haha will have to just wait and see who's named I guess!

sammy123

i traded lee for rowe. And but blicavs in ruck bench where rowe was.

Ricochet

Be careful with the rookie ruck theory
Currie and Daw still have to get past Goldy
Blicavs is untried so I wouldn't expect more than 55-60 from him. PLus West is only a week away and should push him out round 2.
Rowe's scoring potential is very average and his JS is questionable as well
Setanta has good JS but scoring potential is average in a young struggling team.

Risky rookie rucks run the risk of ruining Rick O'Shea's reward.

RRrrrrrrrrr!    ;D

But how exciting does your team look with the extra $800 000 spread elsewhere?

Might consider since I have Cox in the forward line and with Leue gone.

Fwds were my biggest headache, I ended up going with a lot of mid pricers instead so my bench is Macaffer and Byrnes. More money than I would like on the pine but I think they have better security than any of the true rookies. With that said, I'm looking at swapping Byrnes to Neade as an option to drop Berger (who I also have). Lee I wouldn't go with, the only 2 fwd options at rookie price I think are Neade and Macaffer.

Rucks is the same story every year, we're lucky if there's a rookie playing. One of Daw and Currie should get a gig I reckon, at the moment I have Currie but we'll see...

Sam Dwyers name has been thrown around. Can get him dirt cheap, in the paper today and might play round 1, he could be the man!

so far as i've heard Dwyer is still rookie listed and the word today was the Tom Lee will miss out on round 1 selection

im starting to doubt rowe will play... that will hurt so many teams if true... including mine... only time will tell

What makes you think that?
