Berger will not play Round 1 - Longer will take his place. Source: Twitter

I'm in shock   :o

Anubis

How is that shocking? He has played half a game in preseason and was never better than a 50% chance to play

Well I had total faith in him; I also need to figure out what I'm gonna do  :P

MC

Yeah just saw the same thing! Re-shuffled my team to have Cox/Maric the other day, so no stress there for me!

Could be a very handy downgrade target though for some people who have a crack with Griffin/Smith etc to start with

tbagrocks

Actually kept him :o  counting on Blicavs to play and score for a round or two with Berger on the bench

Risky yes, but I had Maric in there but dropped him for what I believe a beter structure

Anubis

Roughead is a gun but not a great tap ruckman. Blicavs will jump all over him and get some nice hitouts to advantage and he is athletic so he will accumulate stats around the ground. he will score 70 this week and Luey will be back in round 2 so its not too bad

Ricochet

Tbh I never actually thought he would get up. Blicavs and Longer are serious options now

Samm79

Keeping a half cooked Berger in your team is risky, don't think I will roll the dice with him..

It is a shame, so many mid price options have gone down the toilet, Ball, Embley, Varcoe with his rubbish for to an extent..

2013 will test our patience if the whole season is like this !

Knew this would happen! Now Cox is locked in my forward line!!  >:(

I'll have to cut him free if not playing round 1. He was a gamble anyway.
I'll still have to gamble on someone else around his price, because I'm happy with my team and don't want to 'adjust' it to make extra cash (only $29k in the kitty).
He can come in on the bubble if he smashes it.

kilbluff1985

everyone should of had a backup plan anyway

Actually, maybe there's no need to panic?

I was taking a gamble anyway. All I can afford is Longer, who will probably be gone when Berger comes back.
So what do you think Berger would have scored this round if he played??
Realistically... What... 60 - 70... maybe!?! If he's lucky...
Surely there is a bench option that will punch out that type of score for the first few rounds (I guess out of Bliz, Currie & Daw). BUT WHICH ONE?!???? :o

This whole game is just one big game of chance and gambles anyway ;)

Anyone thinking of Bailey?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/hawthorn-ruckman-max-bailey-fit-and-firing-for-round-1/story-e6frf9jf-1226605750228

I started reading your link and stoped after the first paragraph;

"Bailey has been restricted to only 24 games in seven years due to a devastating run of setbacks including three knee reconstructions and a fractured wrist early last season."

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o

... I guess he does OK........ when he plays.

Just looking through each teams ruck stocks I noticed two things;
1) Poor melbourne haven't got a decent ruck option!! LOL ;D
2) Surely Goldstein wont be the only ruck North go with all year. Daw or probably Currie will have to play a heap of games... right?

Just found this;
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/brisbane-ruckman-billy-longer-to-fill-the-void-left-by-matthew-leuenberger/story-e6frf9jf-1226605744930

"However, he (Leuenberger) underwent an epidural injection and managed a half a game in the reserves two weekends ago."

WHAT THE........ :o
This doesn't sound good!
