I think Scooter went down to get Balla in strife. Nothing in it apparently.

Just on tagging Fyfe.. It didn't exactly work did it :P

When you say this, do you mean it didn't exactly help West Coast win the match or it didn't particularly stop Fyfe and Barlow/Mundy/Pearce just run free and dominated?

It didn't exactly help WCE win the match :P Barlow/Mundy/Pearce were insanely damaging. Those three should cop attention in the coming weeks imo.

Yeah listening to the radio last night, they were everywhere! Surely those guys will cop attention ahead of Fyfe after last night! Hopefully we are right with our predictions!

An article in this morning's Age newspaper reports that an incident involving Scott Selwood being hit behind play is being reviewed by the MRC.  The only two Fremantle players in the vicinity at the time were Fyfe(who was being tagged by Selwood) and guess who?  Yes, little Hayden.  Could make matters interesting if Fyfe cops a couple, although it doesn't sound like there was much in it, and I don't remember the TV commentators remarking on it at all.

Ballantine is the one that will be looked at, he's the one that runs in and makes contact.

He should be kicked out of the game for bringing it into disrepute. Do we really want the stars of tomorrow watching small man syndrome Ballantyne go about pinching and tickling the opposition and replicating it? He's having less and less influence on the actual game, also. Unless you count dropping an opposition player behind play to get free influencing the game.

While we're here, Mzungu was quite the thug throughout yesterday's game and I'm not exactly sure how going past the ball and running into Le Cras is all above board also. I hope Beau Waters gets the right instructions for the next Derby.

Yeah Mzungu was a prick last night. When ever an Eagle got cleaned up he would cowardly stand over them and give them an ear full.

Buuuuut... What's done is done. Next derby we'll get them mate when half our team isn't sitting in the hospital ward ;)

There will be quite a few threads pop up like this next week also. Like Danger, Fyfe had a below par game but I wouldn't expect him to stay at that level. A lot of the attention will start to switch to Mundy, Hill and Pearce soon. The kid is a star and he will bounce back.

I just wanna say that you have picked your starting team for a reason. Keep faith in your decisions and reassess over the next few rounds (unless something is obviously wrong).

Yeah, i wasn't to unhappy with Fyfe's score of 80 considering he did cop the tag from Scott Selwood. I'm not going to trade anyone out after just 1 performance, i'll give them a couple more chances before deciding what to do with them. For example, Goddard and Heppell didn't score well at all but i will give them 2, possibly 3 more chances before thinking of trading them out!

Exactly. And especially when Fyfe is priced at 89. You'd be extremely p!ssed off if Swan came out and went 80 after spending all that money.

he was on 76 at 3qtr time - i didnt see him for ages in the last quater and when the ball finally got down WCE forward line Fyfe was already there. As Freo had the game fairly well sewn up I think they sent him down their for a rest, he was back on the ball for the last 5-10 mins of the game. not worried at all, disposal efficiency was a bit down but this is just first game of the year rustiness.

Yeah he did have a very quiet last quarter of the match! I was listening to it on the radio. Could you watch it on tv? If so could you tell me where he played the majority of the match please? Was it in the midfield?

IMO

I think you are getting mixed up with "tagger" vs "run with" players -

Crowley is a tagger - his sole job is to shut down an opposition player and stop him getting possessions like he did on Shuey last night.

Scooter is a run with player - his job is to be responsible for one player on the team and to beat him on the night while still picking up possessions and having an influence on the game.

So, IMO, Fyfe wasn't tagged as such  (although he may well be by Picken next game) and probably beat scooter on the night. Still a very solid game and only poor DE stopped him scoring higher.

There are only a handful of good true taggers in the league so most time Fyfe will cop a run with player at worst - and will be plenty of times he will beat them and score highly.

Certainly wouldn't panic as DE can be fixed and you cant judge on just one game

me

ive got him, and although i was somewhat aggrieved by his last quarter disappearance, he still did okay, and actually looked great most of the match

glad i've got him, tons are coming 4 sure

Match was only on FOX unless in WA. Played the majority of the match starting at the centre bounce, until last qtr like I previously said. On many occasions he was wanting the chip kick from his team mates - they obviously want it in his hands to setup a forward 50 entry etc. Someone such as S.Selwood didn't give him too much space so expect the +6s to come much more freely against a lesser opponent.

Fair comment but the fact is he got attention. The performances of the other Freo mids will likely detract from the 'attention' that Fyfey copped yesterday.

Cheers for that, that is promising to hear that he was spending a lot of time in the midfield!
