He he

I agree mate..the game is in very bad shape...the dictator is moulding the game so mums will want their boys to play afl instead of rugby...he is trying to turn it into soccer as a safe game

The game has been in decline for the last decade.

Ive been whinging about it for the last 4 years when it has become really bad...and the funny thing is...its just going to get worse with this sliding rule

then next year there is going to become some equalisation rule where teams that are well off, like the cows and hawthorn for example (our teams) will have to prop up the dogs, demons, giants, suns, roos etc because the dictator introduced teams that will never get more than 10k members. These new teams have made the situation even worse for the struggling old school teams by detracting the supporter base.

I like to watch AFL because I played for a lot of years...I get really frustrated and my missus has black eyes because of the stupid rules now

Im hearin ya bud

Good onya for bein a good sport
both gws and gc had more than 10 000 members in their inaugural years. And unlike what you say about them taking members from already existing clubs, you're wrong... the whole reason for the expansion clubs is to draw members from these NRl dominated places... even afl fans in these areas aren't actually contributing to their clubs, for instance I have a mate who was a crows fan, but swapped to giants at the start of last year.... he wasn't a crows member, because it was pointless, since they'd only play 1 game at sydney at best.

the majority of the supporters of GWS/ GC come from GWS/GC. Why would anyone else jump on the bandwagon of these teams that have been getting slaughtered?

I predict bad stuff for Tex and Dangerpants

your reasoning was fine, but it's way too early to call that imo. Despite tex having 2 junk goals, he did end up kicking 3. And apparently danger had the flu all week.

I dont rate danger as a fantasy option,w and I dont rate text too highly, but I cant see either of them having shocking years.

PowerBug

sorry tbag (and possibly others, only skimmed through this thread), but you don't like the proposed interchange restrictions. Football 10 years never had so many interhcanges before. They were so limited to a point where they were put up on the TV/Big screen so everyone knew when their player went off the field. You guys know that, you watched it. Footy was good back then, capping interchanges may see the game get back to that style of play, and personally, i'm for it if that's what it does. :)

And on the crows, it's only 1 game, they'll still make the top 8, just. Won't win a showdown though

Tbag you have been talking up what a massive season danger is going to have for the past 3 months and now you're jumping off him after 2 hours of football? It had nothing to do with the rules he had a bad game as almost every Adelaide player did. He will come out and score 150 next round and we won't hear a peep about the rules from you.
Let's hope so but I am worried at the moment, but I am sure Adelaide just weren't ready, Bombers ran us raggered and looked great, Watson 3 votes already!

Kommer! Good start from him ;D  Brown was a problem, if he doesn't play and Smith still out, Rielly might have to play there

Justin Bieber

Tbag how can you blame the AFL? Danger spud couldn't even get close to the ball.

tbagrocks

So you are just going to ignore what the impact the rule could have?

Justin Bieber

I'm not going to ignore that if you are any good, you can thrive in any condition.

Dangerfield just doesn't cut it.

I called long ago and last night just proved that he is the most overrated player in the afl

Ziplock

once again, throwing the ball up (which is the only change this year that could really affect burst players like danger) adds 1min of extra game time per game... if dangerfield cant adjust to that small change, then he was ridiculously overrated- as you said, he was out of wind by the end of the first quarter, an extra 25 seconds of jogging destroyed him?

if he just wasnt fit enough, then he's not fit enough. Fitness is a large part of nearly every elite sport, and it's an important attribute.

elephants

Danger had a shocker but he's not the most overrated. That award clearly goes to the one, the only - Michael Hurley.

Everyone has an opinion but I see it first hand here on the Goldy.

I know people that used to support st kilda and melbourne, buy their merchandise and even go down to melbourne to watch a few games.

Those same people swapped to the suns 2 years ago, became members for one year (havnt signed back up because of the rediculous logistical nightmare to get to Metricon), they have taken up supporting the suns because their own teams are not much better, their kids all wear the merchandise...is that not detracting away from melbourne or st kildas revenue? That is only a very small example, and when the suns and giants start winning because of the AFLs propping up, more struggling club supporters will swap

You need to really take a good look at what a massive hit the suns have done to lions membership and crowd attendance. The lions are seriously struggling now

Before the suns came I would go to a few Lions games and the Gabba was at least half full, I used to catch the train up and the train was full of Lions supporters coming from the goldy

Doesnt happen anymore

Yeah and Danger wasn't sick, that was a guy telling everyone to keep away and get off him. That guy warned everyone.
