Jacobs in the ruck, or Bolton in the forward line? I'm weighing up between those two with Cox sitting in the opposite line. I will take the risk with Leuenberger at R2 and Blicavs as EMG.

Are Wines and Macaffer (over lesser rookies) worth downgrading one of Cotch, Lids, Pendles to Fyfe?
If yes, which would you downgrade?

Saucy, lots of upside there. What do you think of Goldy?

Macaffer, if named, possibly, Wines no.  Would be between Cotch or Lids but definitely losing a solid premium when moving to Fyfe.

Not so sure on Sloane - haven't really been keeping track of him. Think there is potential there, could break into the lower section of premiums like Swallow and JPK have. Wouldn't start with him unless you're really keen. Not sure about Chappy with season; Zorko seems popular but I'd be wary.

I'm getting worried over the forward rookies again...
Boyd + Nead/~108k rookie (caf at f6)
or
Danger + Patton on bench (caf at f6)

Patton for security, still think Neade will play. Think it comes down to who you prefer out of Boyd and Danger!

Goldy had a poor pre-season and is reliant on big hit out numbers for his scores. When you only need to spend $40k more to get Jacobs who has back-to-back season long averages of 87, I prefer the better quality and durability myself. Are you still picking Goldstein?

What about Stanton?

Nah I don't have Goldy - wanted your thoughts!  ;)

Stanton is a no-no from me! One of my most hated players  :P

Yeah I can't believe Stanton has got into my side today, but he's got the highest ceiling of the guys outside of the top 4 most expensive midfielders. Throw in the recruitment of Goddard and he should be able to roam free and slut up like he did at the start of last year. It could well be a make-or-break selection, but the only alternatives I'd consider aren't really in his league: Brad Ebert, Jack, Barlow

My Leuenberger strategy is to have Cox in the forward line, with a ruck line of: Jacobs, Leuey, Rowe, Blicavs

Obviously I would need Blicavs to play in round 1 to cover Leuey if he misses, but Blicavs playing is pretty much a lock to happen. If Leuey misses again Round 2, I sell Leuey for Cox and pick Stevie J or another forward premo.

What do you think of that? Or should I scrap Leuenberger and pick Cox in my ruck line? Means I have to select another forward premo, I can't afford Bartel so that leaves Bolton... and you reckon Jacobs is a better bet than Bolton? What about for the first 3 rounds - Bolton plays GWS, GC, and North??

Yeah I used to run with that tactic... Put Cox in my rucks though for the security... Probably going to put Rowe on my Forward bench if named. Atm my rucks are Cox, Berger, Currie and Blicavs. I am extremely confident Berger will play Round 1  ;)

TBH I'm not sure on Jacobs v Bolton - think Jacobs will perform all season while Bolton might just be a fixture player...

Andrew

Thanks for all your help. I've reverted Cox back to the ruck line, with Bolton in my forward line. Hopefully by next week I find the cash to get Bartel instead. Picking Stanton this week kinda doesn't help that, but hey what can you do... Pick Kennedy instead?

My midfield:

Dane Swan, Matthew Boyd, Brent Stanton, Toby Greene, Brent Moloney, Andrew Embley, Oliver Wines, Kane Mitchell
Jaeger O'Meara, Matt Jones

The Stanton risk is really getting to me. I feel like waiting for next weekend may present a new opportunity on a premium, whether it be due to an injury happening making an opposition weaker, something like that...

Ablett and Viney or Boyd and Wines?

Can decide that next week, but probably Boyd & Wines. Wines looks like a must have.
