I had him in my team since the start of DT, but now that he has gone and said he will be playing less game time and spending more time in the fwd line, I have switched to Boyd and saved myself ~50k. If the information is correct, we will probably see his avg drop to 105-110.

I'm keeping that 50k in the bank to see how he goes in the first few rounds, and if he continues his form from 2012 then he's straight back in, and if not, then he'll be an upgrade target for later since he will drop in price.

He could win the Coleman playing forward.Gary will play where Gary wants. So I wouldn't read too much into that imo.

After Boyd's pre-season, I gained confidence that Swan & Boyd at the start would suffice. But Ablett is definitely my first upgrade target in the mids.

With 2 trades each week, it would be better to start with Ablett. If he really does bomb and you decide your team value is more important than the 150 he scores in round 3. You could then pick the best performed mid (who may score 65 in round 3). That may not be Boyd.

question for you guys who arent starting him, if he comes out and goes back to back 130+ would you trade him in round 3?

Im holding him and if he gets a big BE he is out for a week or two than back in.

That's what I'm planning at this stage. It might change before next week, but seeing as it was the little master himself that said these things, there has to be some truth in it.

And how will they afford bringing him in?
You'd probably need 70k spare to bring Ablett in after round 2

SydneyRox

Holz, what does his BE have to be before you consider the trade? 130? 140? 150+

Then how long before you bring him back?

Looking at his predicted numbers according to Ass Coach, Rnd1 118, Rnd2 125, which leaves him a BE of 154.

Scoring 123 in round 3 means he only drops $5800.

Doesnt seem worth it? Even if it is $15k over 3 weeks, lets say $30k as the guy you bring in is going up.

He will probably be outscoring the guy you bring into replace him, so your overall points score is down, to allow your team value to go up?

Chopps

Set and forget on swan and ablett unless lti. More money to be made else where and at no risk of loss of points

S_Coach99

Swan is on drugs, Ablett is playing less game time, Zorko can't handle a tag, Buddy' average will be low because if you take away the biggest score from his average the average isn't as big.

Don't pick them!!!! (hehehe, excellent smithers)

it wil depend if there is a rookie out there with a big BE. Say round 2 there is a rookie with -100 and Ablett is istting around 150. I think I will go Ablett to that rookie and the week after go my worst rookie back up to ablett.

I think the money you gain from it will allow you to catch up the points over the season.

SydneyRox

It is going to be an interesting call, and you are right, will not be able to make many until in the exact situation.

Trading out Ablett for a rookie, may net you $60-$70k over 2-3 weeks but will probably cost you 100-200 points, more if Ablett smashes it and would have been your captain choice.

Chopps

dont think it ll be worth it holz, save yaself the hassle follow jukes advice

Same articles going around last year.

People who believe everything the news tells them are idiot sheep.

Same old preseason mind games, you pump up your younger midfielders and play on the minds of your opposition you hit up early.

^ pretty much.  Going forward didn't hurt swans scores.

ftr though, I dont have ablett.
