Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Goodes, Terlich, Stevenson (Vlastuin, Docherty)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Swallow, Fyfe, Heppell, Crouch, O’Meara (Viney, Kommer)
Ruck: Roughead, Currie (Rowe, Daw)
For: Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Martin, Kennedy, Macaffer (Neade, Lee)

$59,400

How does it rate???

Questions & Concerns:

Ruck Division: I don't feel safe with Currie, Daw and Rowe sitting here.

Leftover $$$: Am I better to upgrade a Murphy or Swallow to someone like Cotchin or Kennedy?

Heppell: Is he best in the backline as the Defence is looking a little light on? If so am I better to go with Wines over Vlastuin/Kommer in the Mids?

Kennedy: Bit of a gamble here but with West Coasts draw up to the bye including Melb, Port, Dogs, Lions, North, GWS and STK I'm thinking he could cause early havoc and ripe up quickly.

Martin: Not an overly convincing NAB Cup, worth spending that money elsewhere? Maybe a downgrade for Karnezis and then use the $$$ to put Leuenberger at R2 and hope he plays?

Taken me a long time to put this together, some thoughts would be great...will rate your team.

I dont mind the rucks here provided lee or neade get a game, you want to be able to roll cox into rucks if needed but feel confident you have cover forward.
I like the spitta to cotch/kennedy thought. I think he is capable of a good consistent year, but i see cotch + kennedy being in the top 8 mids... So you wont need to upgrade either one barring injury.
Heppell is better in the backs IMO... With your exact reasoning.
I have JJK.. People worry about KPP, but he is well under priced and a safe option IMO.
Martin underpriced too on his potential... Thats right, his potential. Hopefully he meets it (fingers crossed).

Thanks for the feedback. I had that thought in mind of playing Cox in the Rucks if the rookie rucks don't get a game. Goldstein coming in worries me a bit even though Currie and Daw have had ok NAB Cups. I was looking at Blicavs to maybe fill one of these positions as I think Rowe will get some game time.

The forward rookies are a tough one but Neade should do ok here, Tom Lee is a bit of a question mark. I carried Ledger nearly all of last year and that cause issues. Hoping he performs a little more or at least gets some more games.

Heppell I felt needs to be shifted so who is a better option in the midfield rookie spot...Vlastuin or Wines/Mitchell. I love the sound of Wines and think he will get more of a run than Vlastuin who could be vest worthy to ease him in to that Tigers backline.

Swallow was very attractive due to his price...I couldn't believe he was under $600k. He generally sores well but I feel Cotchin and Kennedy especially can pump out those big 130+ scores consistently where as Spitta is a regular 110-120pt average at best. With their draw being a little more difficult this year he may not burst out of the blocks like I am hoping...mmm things to ponder there.

Martin I agree very underpriced, I just feel that this could be his year with so much scrutiny on him, he could go either way but I feel with 30 trades he's worth a risk, as is Kennedy up forward. I looked in depth at their draw, they do play some of those weaker sides away from home, but I can see him taken alot of marks around the 50 arc and with Lecras back ad Darling playing well he won't be the only focus for the best defender.

Any further comments would be great.

Im loving Wines this preseason... reckon he'll get plenty of games early, and plenty of clearances in them. He's the lock there for me.

Ive had Spitta a couple of times the last few years, but the starting price this year rules him out for me. He tackles his way to decent scores every week, but as you said yourself- his ceiling is not near the other elite lads IMO. He is a nice POD... but I see him being upgraded later on to one of the bigger guns here- reckon its a wasted trade given the small gap in price to start with.

very good team. Just use cox in rucks if needed 9/10

Cheers, it has taken me a while. It seems Wines is in favour of Vlastuin, better job security and a hard nosed mid...seems to make sense. Kommer is another that I'm not 100% on.

What are people's thoughts on Ruck improvements? I am sweating on this area of my team. I really want Roughie in there, had him last year and he monstered it. Can see him being pretty unique as most won't have him in the same forward line as Franklin.

I would need to do some downgrading somewhere to get the cash to look at a mid priced Ruck. This could come from any of the following moves:

JJK - rookie (there is a limited number already so I can't see this being an option)

Heppell - Moloney or cheaper Wines (keep Vlastuin in Def)

Martin/Rockliff - ???

As you can see I'm out of ideas...if anyone has any please feel free to pass them on.  ??? Loving the feedback  ;D

If you really want to upgrade the rucks it'll be heppell or fyfe out the door imo.
Unless you see one of thes two reaching the elite status (best 6-8in their respective position) you would likely aim to upgrade them later yes?
Save yourself a trade later on is my thinking here.
If you cut heppell you will fall just short of the elite rucks though by the looks of it... Tough call.

What you could do is move Heppell into the back line, then swap Duffman to wines this will give you a second ruck choice of Kruezer/Griffin or even Goldy. Or Wines to a cheaper rookie and then you could get Jacobs as your second ruck.
