In an unprecedented announcement, Geelong’s Mark Blicavs is now a MID/RUC in AFL Dream Team (and other fantasy games).

Blicavs has been rucking for the Cats while their best options (Hamish McIntosh, Trent West and Nathan Vardy) are injured.

While he may not give us big numbers, he may be the only rookie priced ruckman playing in round one.

I just saw this as well on the Herald Sun site. Into my team he goes

Mark

Yeah but do you think he will score more than the better mid rookies ?

And who would be your 2 rookie rucks ??

Do you think he would be better than Currie??

colmullet

won't play enough games to make enough $$ not worth it i think

Mat0369

Cox, Goldstein, Currie and Blicvas in the rucks with Rowe in the forward line for DPP

Marstar

Giles was sitting at $340k after 6 rounds last year, Zac Smith not too far behind in 2011 (couldn't find actual price).

If Blicavs can get anywhere near $300k I'de take that in a flash.  Would be perfect if Leue's 1st price-rise was in Round 7 ;)

Mark

Would that be better than...

Jacobs - Leuenberger (Rowe DPP - Currie)

With Cox in forward line for DPP ??

colmullet

i think you'll be lucky to get one price rise out of him before Hmac/West/Vardy come into the side and push him out

Quote"I'm not one for massive statements, but to answer the question, 'What's his running power like?' there's never been a 198cm AFL footballer who can run like him," Scott said.

"If he doesn't play in the ruck, we're confident he can play in different positions."

For those worried about him losing his spot when Geelongs "Rucks" are back.

Cheers for that MTTY.
Good to hear, I'm considering him myself now.

No worries JROO. Currently have him as R2, only need him if Leuenberger isn't there round 1. If Leuy doesn't pull up, then will only need him for 1 or 2 price rises.

Well, now I'm kinda interested...

Failed to get into the Olympics so switched over to footy.  That's really cool.
QuoteGeelong says injuries and the lack of conditioning for all recognised rucks could force it to play Mark Blicavs - the 198 centimetre convert from athletics who took up football last year after failing to qualify for the steeplechase at the London Olympics - in round one against Hawthorn.

Like the OP says, blicavs will most likely be the only rookie ruck playing in round 1.

Brad Scott said at the weekend that North will only play one of Goldstein and Currie.
Despite being disappointing, Goldstein will most certainly get the nod. Don't see Currie coming into the side unless injury strikes.

Big Mac

Blicavs is still a better option than Witts/Rowe - They're downgrade targets for me now.
