Berger back in contention?

if we didnt have all these trades I woudl say lock him in.

I currently have moved cox up front and sloted burger in at R2 behind goldy.

not sure if we have to think differently this year and not start him. its a risk either way, dont start him and if he comes out and goes 75+ you will want to bring him in. sure you can always downgrade but that leaves you with 150k+ wasted in your bank or you have to do another trade. that eats up both your trades and you might miss out on other options.

start him and he does poorly/vest and you have to do the same thing.

got to remember he averaged 99 against his opening 6 opponents in 2011. with 6/10 100+ and a high score of 140.

is it just me or can anyone else just picture him being named round 1, people put him in their team and he is either al ate withdrawal or a green vest.

I can see the rage threads already and i can even for see me posting in it, saying how stupid i was to risk him.

This makes me feel a lot more comfortable about having Longer at R2. I highly doubt they will play Berger as the sole ruck in round 1 if he is coming off a back complaint, so it gives me one or two weeks of his scores and then a straight swap to Berger. As Ric said, you would be crazy with the split round to have someone else in at R2 who plays the week before him if you are seriously considering him.
You still only have 2 trades a week so I don't think it is all that wise to just say "yeah I'll use one to get him in". I plan on using my trades from week 2 on wards to get rooks who are on the bubble that I've missed. Not to get players in who I should have started.

the way longer played in nab cup it wouldn't surprise me if luey will be resterd for a few rounds.

Wouldn't Martin be ahead of Longer in the pecking order though ?

was scoring well till he got crunched. if berger wasn't to get up for the match i couldn't see vossy giving martin the entire match in the ruck. longer would play. these would be my predictions Re : ruck

Ever since I read this last night I've been having major issues with my R2 selection..! Don't know what the right call is - compromise my thinking on R2 with Cox R1, or just lock-in the best R2 who I think is available, which is Jacobs. But missing out on starting Leuenberger if he's named would suck, yet even if he is named it doesn't mean he's out of the woods. He could be a constant kick in the face being subbed off and nursed through the season. Who knows what could happen with him? not sure if its just men, but im seeing too many good ruck options.

actually moved cox up front, this is after saying you were stupid to do so. This is without even fitting in burger (who i want).

best case scenario is burger misses the first few weeks.
