hey lads,

currently have gone with 4 mid prems and 4 def prems:

def: godd, Gibbs, hartlett, heppell (only just a prem)
mid: GAJ, Pendles, Cotchin, K Jack

my question is would it be better to cull a defensive premium and run 3 so I can grab a fifth mid budget premium (eg. Mundy)??

Similar position, but in the forwards.

IM assuming youre happy and dont want to touch rucks and your forwards.

With that in mind just look at it simply add the scores youd expect from Heppell 95 and a rookie mid 75 VS Mundy 110 and rookie defender 60.  It maybe just as important to look at the rookie mid or def rather than Heppell vs Mundy.

One thing to remember is that Heppell is probably more likely to be in the top few defenders than mundy in the top few mids.

Looking at it this way I tend to agree it looks better to get a premium defender with the guarantee if he's fit he'll be in your final team and in the top tier of defenders.  Mundy could be straight swapped into a fallen premium however by then you may have lost too many points to catch up in overall.

thanks for the help fellas, I reckon I'll stick with the 4+4 meaning hopefully less upgrading during the year

best to load up on premium forwards mate due to the lack of lock fwd rookies!

A 470-490k defender (lets say Heppell/Hanley/Reilly, that type) VS a 470k midfielder (like the proven Mundy)... I know what I would rather.
Same price but the 470k mid has a much bigger chance of scoring higher than the 470k defender if you know what I mean?

D4/D5 might not get better then the above mentioned options. So eventually you'll be buying one or more.

Mundy might not even be worth keeping @ M8 by season's end even with 110ppg (with 30 trades).

So personally I'm going both :P

4D/3+Mundy/2R/3F premium structure.
