Not starting Buddy?

For those not starting buddy, how cheap do you think he may get? Team just looks so much better with him in it!

He might drop. He might not.

How will you get him in, even if he drops $50 000?

I assume you will have somewhere between $200 and $25000 left in your kitty at the start of the season.

This puts a lot of pressure on the mid pricers to rise and to rise quickly.

Every year most of us have overlooked the rookie of the year.

Every year the promising new club player gets dropped and languishes on the bench for a few weeks, just when you need the cash upgrade.

This is when you need a Buddy.

I prefer to start with guys who are realistically odds on to be there at year's end.

The lineball keepers are the risky ones: some of whom will cost you 2, if not 3 trades and a heap of points in the meantime - Mr Martin, I'm looking at you!!  >:(

Grab a Buddy and start the season with confidence.

Anyone that tips a price would only be guessing. Buddy is a star and could easily have a big first month and rise in price just as easily as he could drop. If you have the money to start him then go for it. Not worth having someone you dont want anywhere near as much just in the hope he will drop a few bucks

This is right, but we all have 10 million to start with so I'll have him from the start thanks!

By the way, I want him at end so have got him from the start. Just asking why some are not starting him but looking to upgrade. Just seems silly to me.

Lots of chat about NOT starting Buddy and/or Ablett.

Same theory could be applied in defence regarding Goddard, but I haven't seen that.

I think Gibbs, Shaw, Hanley, Duffield, Hartlett, Heppell, Birchall are closer to Goddard then the other forwards are to Buddy and probably even same in mids.

Might go without Goddard??

Great point, but also not as much cash to be saved in going without Goddard as going without buddy.
For the record I was one of those initially planning to start without buddy, but my current lineup has him in, going with a mostly mid priced forward like so had the cash to have him in.

Well think about the contract situation. In 2010 GAJ avg dipped 11 points from the previous season and last year Clokes avg dipped 16 points from the previous year, So if it happened to them two who's to sat it won't happen to Buddy? Could very well dip to 110 or lower. How much will he drop in price if that happens?

If his average drops to 110, he'll only drop in price by about $50,000.

For those not starting Buddy, It's all about the timing and not being too greedy with his price.

All serious coaches will keep a track of his Breakeven, but because of his huge ceiling you can get burnt very easy. Take last year for example, he looked to be a bargain after round 9 coming off score of 99 and 73 most coaches would hold out for another price drop, but went bang with 236. So not only would you miss the great score but any potential saving would be lost.

For this reason I'm locking him on from round 1, saves some heartache
