I don't really want to hear peoples forecasts for who will get injured and who will get reported or in trouble or whatever else, they both have a history of it but I am not taking that into consideration.
These are the 2 guys I am weighing up between to join Goddard and Gibbs as my 3rd prem defender. Which one would you pick?

Shaw is expected to push up to the wing a bit more which could increase his already nice average.
Hartlett is a young gun on the rise and will break 100 avg if injury free.

well then ill cut to the chase then hartlett. he has a higher ceiling

Heater. Has the runs on the board. Averaged 90+ in 7 consecutive seasons. Last 2 years ave over 100pts...Will score well again.
Hartlett is good and will probably score well. Averaged just over 90 last two seasons.
Both good picks but if only one has to be Heater on what you asked for.
I'm starting with neither but only ever contemplated having Heater.

Thanks guys. Heater is just about the most unpopular bloke on this forum haha. I think he's a gun and will play a full season but I also think the same of Hartlett. Decisions, Decisions

What role has Hartlett been playing in the port side ? - Back or midfield ?

Ricochet

As much as I hate to say it but has to be Shaw. Had an ordinary year by his standards and still went 100+ in SC.

Have not seen any port games but he would have to play midfield surely

If you care about overall during the bye weeks then Hartlett is your only option because Heater shares a bye with Goddard & Gibbs but if you dont care about this then i'd go Heater.

Hartlett.  Ready to breakout.  One of the first backs I picked.

I like heater but that just happens to be the same bye as Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Beams, Dangerfield, S Thompson. That's a lot of scoring missing in the one week depending on your team. Hence Hartlett IMO as they are pretty close options.

yeah this is a good point guys and something I have thought about. Really trying not to take bye's into consideration but its hard not to sometimes

Just on the byes... Do you see Heater averaging 10+ more than Hartlett? If you do then byes shouldn't be your worry.
Collingwoods bye is round 13... So theoretically, thats 12x games of an extra 10 points Shaw will give you over Hartlett which is basically cancelling out Shaw's donut in RD13 + 10-20 more points. Plus there will always be injuries or suspensions and trades.

Just my thoughts, but i wouldnt be too concerned with the byes if one player is a good 10+ points better player.

Not sure about a jump to #1 but certainly could be in the top few if he stays out there.
I am expecting an increase from Shaw this season to though so its a tough call
