Hi, I've been consistant over the past few years, usually making the GF in multiple leagues. Here's my first crack at a side for the season.
I've tried to keep it at 13-14 Premiums and the rest rookies. I'm tempted to drop a premium to fit in 2 potential cash cows, ie Ball and LeCras?? Or should I just keep all the rookies??
I'm also wanting to make sure I have Dual positions in every row to cover all my bases, hence Roughie in my FWD line.
Still have $101,800 in the bank.
Let it rip!!

Who am I replacing Gibbs with?

fairly port heavy in the rookie list?
O'meara/crouch for neade/lonergan

if you still want neade pop him fwd. I understand you want a link player but your linking fwd/mid options are weak anyway.

could you get a prem fwd/mid link into your midfield somehow?

but really pretty good so far, just throwing up a thought..

I like your thinking. I was a little concerned with the number of Port players. I think the final line up of Rookies will change quite a bit based on the teams released before Round 1. Thanks!

Sound team here to work with.

With the changes made to rules in SC this year DPP has lost a fair bit of its significance,  Only one still really relevant to a certain extent is R/F,  Changes being best 18 on field scores count during bye and we have an additional 6 trades available.  Say you have 13 prems you can rely on so you need another 9 to have 22 prems on field that equates to 16/18 trades to achieve leaving 12/14 for LTI's loss of form etc.

Def: Move Goddard back to defence  Your Choice whether to replace a prem or rookie. I would go Birchill to Goddard and Shaw to Gibbs myself in the back line,
Mids: Need to replace Goddard with another prem or Mid pricer Fyfe, Mundy, Moloney or similar.  Needs to be someone though with Round 11 or Round 12 bye as you have 3 prems already with Round 13 bye.
Rucks: Solid Probably need to watch Goldy - You have the option with Roughie though as DPP with Rowe.
Fwds: One of the few teams without Rocky but your choice. With the dearth of rookie forawrds this year would look at using your cash to see if you can bring the lower priced palyers who will make cash JJ Kennedy, Varcoe, Karnezis, Byrnes and Pettard. Do not think either of Mayes or Paprone will make Round 1.

Team needs a bit of tweaking but rate 7.5/10

Waters - he's a gun but gets injured far too often and I cant see him improving on his 100 average. Gibbs is a No.1 draft pick for a reason - not having him would be a negative POD!

Are you considering upgrading one of those rookie backs/forwards to a mid pricer?

Hamsters

Gibbs in for Waters. Keeping Birch.
Leaves me with enough cash to upgrade Paprone to Byrnes. Would like to have some cash in the bank though for when Ball comes back. He's a cash cow lock! But might not be back for a few rounds? Might bring him in after the first pay increase?

Yeah one other thing - with the extra trades this year I think the MPP is less relevant. I dont want to destroy your strategy but you may be limiting your options by doing so!

Example of this would be having Goodard in the Mids and Colhuqoun in the backs (I dont know the kid but im guessing youve selected him due to the MPP). Im just throwing it out there but I would think O'Meara should make more $$ than Colhuqoun and swapping Goodard for Colhuqoun & Culhuqoun for O'Meara could be a better option.

Also, keep an eye on Staker when he makes his come back! I know he hasnt played in 2 years but at $128k there is cash to be made. If at worst you blow two trades its not the end of the world!

Get Goddard in the back line! Then we can talk!

Here's my final squad...well until next week's teams are announced.
Cloke in the forward line might be changed?? Just think he will put last season behind him and with Dawes gone and big Q in the side will give Cloke a lot more chances to dominate....
Still have $143,000 in the bank too!
