If you had 2nd pick in a draft, who would you pick?

Now, obviously Ablett is always going to go first, but who should go 2nd?
Swan? Pendles? Beams? Even Danger? Or Cotch?
A little too early to get the best def, fwd, or ruck.
What would you do, and why?

There is no RIGHT or WRONG strategy in draft leagues. If you haven't played one before, it's best to have a strategy going in, but you also need to be flexible. Be willing to change your strategy based on what others are doing. Look closely at what their strategy might be? My initial plan is always to pick a balanced team, but depending on how things go you may have to load up in one area (eg: select all the gun ruckman), forcing other teams to trade with you. This is another way to get some of the guns that you want.

With the number 2 pick, I'd look at one of the gun mids. Swan or Pendles. Cox, Buddy and Goddard should be first picked for the other positions.

After GAJ, the next 10 or so midfielders are only 5-10 points behind Pendles/Swan

But if one of these 3 go then the next rucks are 105 or below so you could possibly lose 10-15 points there.

well ablett went first in the 9 live drafts i participated in mostly,with swan getting the nod a couple times,many people drafted cox buddy or goddard very early on,in 1 draft i got pendlebury & beams & i think beams was my 3rd pick,personally although i rate pendles better in sc & dt i would go swan because it would hurt if i passed him up then he set the world on fire

I don't know how SC draft works? I think you have to plan a couple of picks in advance, ie if having 2nd pick in first round means you have 2nd to last pick in 2nd round, then pick Pendles or Swan. You want a gun mid who will score you points as captain. If you pick the likes of Cox/Buddy/Goddard, you will find yourself without a real captain option. First pick is the one you think will be your permacaptain. I would think the first players to go would be 1) GAJ, 2)Pendles/Swan, then Beams/Danger/JPK/Cotchin/Watson/Selwood/Murphy/Lids - all those guys are much of a muchness. I certainly wouldn't pick Cox/Buddy or Goddard over any of them...

I agree with Rico but it would be between Cox and Nic Nat only if the captain selection is turned off. Otherwise Pendles
