So overall, I see us having given up five premium-valued commodities for seven premium-valued commodities - however, those premiums given up include the injury-plagued O'Meara, Naitanui, and Hogan, unproven youngsters Taranto and Pick 5. The incoming premium-values includes superstar Treloar and no players over 30 (Jacobs and Kreuzer are nearing it, but have inflated value due to being ruckmen). In terms of medium-values, we definitely came out ahead - four best 22 players and a pick upgrade for Clarke, a youngster with medium potential, and Bellchambers. For the lower values, I still see some potential in Kelly, Brown, Stretch, and Begley, while we got rid of plenty of poor players leaching on the cap, in addition to some young good footballers with bad scoring potential (Hipwood and Moore).

NAT Pick 20. Brayden Ainsworth (M) (Subiaco - Western Australia - West Coast Eagles)
Any club that is looking to boost its midfield stocks should look at Ainsworth. He digs into the bottom of packs to win the contested possessions, rips it out of the congestion and because of his great vision and quality decision-making he will find a team-mate in space.

What separates Ainsworth from the other midfielders are his clean hands, strong overhead marking ability, dominant clearance work, composure even when under duress, elite link-up play, damaging play-making abilities and his capacity to have an impact on the scoreboard.

Throughout the season, he has drawn comparisons to Collingwood’s five-time Copeland Trophy winner Scott Pendlebury and it is not hard to see why. He appears to be playing at a different speed to his opponents, such is his graceful style of play and his enviable evasive qualities.

Without doubt, Brayden Ainsworth is the premier midfielder from Western Australia. His talent, leadership and maturity would all appeal to AFL clubs that are looking to bolster their midfield stocks. The sky is the limit for the Esperance product."

"Small midfielder who isn’t afraid of winning the contested ball. His ground ball numbers are very good and is a big ball winning midfielder. Moore can also push forward and hit the scoreboard. Has a decent jump for a small midfielder which he can show off up forward. He also a very good endurance base but is one of the few players sub 180cm who do not possess elite speed. Is a smart footballer and just gets to the right position to win the ball. Clearance work is super. Best-case comparison: Lachie Neale"

"Patrick Naish is definitely an exciting prospect for the Tigers. He has the potential to be a very good outside midfielder, however it will take time to develop. Expect to see him start his AFL career predominantly in the forward line before making the move into the midfield. Naish also showed he is a big game player as he lifted his form during the National Under 18 Championships and was played his best game of he season for the Knights in their elimination final loss. He will be a very handy pick up for the Tigers. Best-case comparison: Zac Williams"

Banfield was part of the WA side at the NAB AFL National Championships in 2016 and part of Claremont Colts premiership sides in 2015 and 2016.

With a strong body and powerful in a contest, Banfield is a first possession player at the stoppage and hard to stop at the clearances. He is highly regarded for ability to run both ways and applies very good defensive pressure."

For a tall his speed and agility is very good and he is a reliable long kick out of defence. His positioning in marking contests and under the high ball could still use some work, while he could also continue to build his endurance. As a whole, expect the Lions to match a bid for Payne somewhere in the third round with a number of clubs interested in obtaining a developing tall with good future potential."
