Most Valuable Player

1. Callan Ward (2245)
2. Dyson Heppell (2150)
3. Dustin Martin (1995)
4. Jaeger O'Meara (1974)
5. Lynden Dunn (1707)
6. Nic Naitanui (1672)
7. Ryan Griffen (1595)

"Callan has had a superb season, deservedly winning the Lev Yashin Medal for the Spetsnaz's Most Valuable Player. After finishing third in 2013, comfortably behind the winner, captain Ryan Griffen, Callan took his game to the next level, boosting his average from 97.3 to 112.2. Between rounds 6 and 19 Callan scored 108, 145, 123, 100, 142, 135, 122, 120, 110, 93, 131, 127, and 136- 12 scores of 100 or more in 13 games - the other being 93 - for a 13-week average of 122.5. [OOC*] Exceptional given he plays for a cellar-dwelling team in GWS [OOC end]. Callan injured his calf in the final game of the season, hopefully he can rehabilitate it quickly and get on with another quality pre-season, to maybe take his game to the next level (again)- and maybe become the new captain?"

Best Clubman

Steven May

"Steven is a deserved winner of the best clubman award on 5 points, ahead of Josh Thomas on 3 and Sam Docherty, Jonathan Simpkin and Paul Seedsman on 2, after playing 19 games for 1433 points, at an average of 75.4 (up 17 on 2013). Steven really proved his worth at both ends of the ground after coming from nowhere to become a starter, his DPP assisting greatly. Steven lit up the competition with a 122 in round 2, in addition to scores of 98, 96, 90 and 81. Steven earned his votes in rounds 3, 6, 14, 15 and 17, in addition to 5 Best and Fairest Votes, all coming in the best-on-ground display in round 2.

Co-Coaches Awards

Jukes
"Lynden Dunn- After being traded here last off-season, Lynden has had a really great season, spare a string of mediocre scores late in the season [OOC] as his demons floundered [/OOC]. Dunn scored 1707 points from 20 games, good for fifth in the club MVP race, for an average of 85.3. Up until round 16, he was averaging over 97, part due to consecutive scores of 116, 145 and 149 to really show his value. Hopefully as he gains experience, as a player and in the Moscow system, [OOC] and the demons aren't so shower, [/OOC] Lynden can really take his game to the next level. Dunn was also 8th in the Best and Fairest, with 20 votes- this could be seen as unlucky, given that there were 5 players under 5 votes ahead of him, while the next lowest behind him had 9.

Best and Fairest Countdown

We'll be doing the top 7, since Lynden Dunn was 8th and I've already done stuff about him.

7th. Dustin Martin
20 games, 1995 points, 99.7 average, 22 votes

After finishing second in 2013, Dusty's voting performance has regressed, despite similar scoring. Dusty has generally been more consistent, which is both good and bad. Between rounds 9 and 17, Dusty scored 9 consecutive 100+ scores to collect a large amount of his votes. Although our forward line has been very poor due to both injuries and suspension, Dusty has always been there with good performances.

#220
T-5th. Nic Naitanui
19 games, 1672 points, 88 average, 23 votes

Another injury-hit campaign for the much-maligned Nic Nat, his average slumping from 114 in 2012 to 96 and 88 in 2013 and 14 respectively, although he has been good when needed, collecting a large amount of votes considering his average. His season was hampered by poor scores, both due to injury, poor form, and a stacked ruck-force such as 27, 53, 54, 64 and 66, although he did improve after a horror start to only miss one match. His three-week stretch of 113, 116 and 142 just when the competition was starting to heat up was vital, with another three-week performance of 111, 133 and 100 also impressive in the last round and finals. Hopefully he'll be able to hit his potential in 2014, remember his is just 24, and return to a 110+ average.

Jukes

T-5th. Ryan Griffen
17 games, 1595 points, 93.8 average, 23 votes

Griff was also hampered by injuries in 2014, far down on his Best-and-Fairest winning performance of 2013. His four scores under 70 were ugly, although he continued to hit solid scores throughout the season. At only 28, although considered to be one of the senior players, we believe Griff has the potential to win another Best-and-Fairest with Moscow before his career is out.

Jukes

4th. Heath Shaw
16 games, 1462 points, 91.3 average, 25 votes

Heater's season was generally very good, the standard we expect of a "veteran" (also just 28) in Moscow. A four-week period where he got injured on 24 and missed the next three weeks, and a 34 earlier were the only down parts of his season, with the majority of his other scores being over 80, including 7 scores of 100+. Despite collecting 3 less votes than 2013, he improved his placing by one.

Jukes

3rd. Jaeger O'Meara
20 games, 1974 points, 98.7 average, 34 votes

The 20-year-old has had a super season, boosting his average by 10 points prior to his hopeful third year breakout, deserving of third place in the best and fairest. 14 scores above 88, 9 of which were 100+, shows just how good he is at such a young age- a future star. Hopefully the boy from Dongara can boost his average up and out of this world in 2015.
