Roughhead. A good pick going on potential ave, draw, injury chances, dpp, etc
Yes, a good pick but I will not be starting with him. Reason being  I cant see his price going any higher (see last years HS of 129). I will wait until he has a sub 90 game and get him then :)

To start Zorko or rockliff?
Gotta be Rocky mate, I just cant see Zorko being in the top 6 fwds and is more expensive than Rockliff!

Hey Jay

Have you considered a really budget ruck line?

Say Smith / Leue / Rowe / Currie

And fiddled with upgrading elsewhere?

And if so, are you tempted, because I sure as hell am.

Great thread.
Funny. I have actually considered that exact same lineup! Also consider Jenkins at a similar price or Bellchambers as a budget premo.

Personally I think Zac Smith can avg 90 and of course Leuey has the potential - I mean he has already averaged over 100 before!

Depends how you spend the $$$ but risks like this have great reward! :D

Gysberts worth a midfield 5 spot as a unique ?
DT- yes
SC - no

Kid has scored more DT than SC every single year. Just dont think he represents great SC value. Although the change of scenery may do him good... Monitor the rest of pre-season and if you want him go with your gut and get him!

nick lower as M5 jayman?
nice one. Would prefer to see him at M6 but that might mean one of your other lines becoming too weak, hard to tell!

He has proven he can rack up big numbers and players often take it to a new level when they switch clubs.

Vicious Sandwhich Attack

Hey Jayman,

Nathan Jones has had a few minutes in my lineup at times throught the preseason. For me he shows a really good form line over his career, and the only thing stopping me from selecting him is I don't think he will be a keeper at the end of the year, however I do expect he will lift his average.

Is he just to unique for the sake of being unique?

He would currently have to remove Kennedy or Dangerfield from my team (I have the 3 Super Prems and these two as my mids), but would leave me with an extra $120k-$140k to spread to other areas (Forwards).

Firstly, great mids having 5 over 630k :o

As for Nathan Jones, I like where he is heading and I expect him to avg over 100 this year. However in 2012 he scored under 80 more times than he scored over 120 - would expect that to change this season.

I think he is a good unique pick mate. But I would look to keep your mids set at the 3 super prem's + JPK and Danger then the rest rookies - will go well mate :D

An while we're at it..... Nathan Lyon or Xavier Doherty?? Haha  ;)
Neither for me.  I would have Maxwell.  None of them are going to spin us to victory like warnie used to do, but Maxwell may have a chance of at least making some runs batting at #8.

But our best option is to fast track Fawad Ahmed's immigration papers.  They could do that tomorrow and have him on the next plane to India.  If not, at least get him to England for the ashes.

Enough of the cricket for now though. Great job Jayman.  I'm about to run a couple of football questions your way.

Rucks are a tough one this year Jayman.

Had sandi til the hamstring, and also like NicNat.  With Coxy fwd, I need the next best 2 options and have looked at in price order, Luey, Smith, Mummy, Goldy, and Jacobs.

Worried about Jacobs after watching him last night.

Mummy is good price, but are the new ruck rules going to favour the more athletic type of player, such as NicNat or Smith, and Mummys durabilty is a concern for me.

Goldy also good price, but I'm now worried about his lack of form pre season, and the possibility that north go with currie if goldy drops in form, but that is good for currie owners and hes a lock for me.

Luey, i'm concerned about him having a slow start, and is he over his injury.

I'm actually considering Zac Smith as a potential break out contender this year, just turned 23 and at 206cm he should get plenty of hitouts.  Can he find his 2011 form and then better it for a breakout similar to goldy when he went from mid 60'2 to 112 in 2001, and what was his injury that held Smith back last year.

Also Jayman, I'm tossing up b/w my mid rookies and have Wines, Crouch, O'Meara, Viney, Mitchell, and Colquhoun.  Need to cull one, maybe 2 for extra premium/s.  Which one would you cull first, and then cull 2nd if need be.

Are there any mid rookies that you would consider in front of these.

Cheers

Ok... Jayman!!  Now wasn't real happy with Matty Wright last night and feel his tagging could be a sign of things to come.

Now I have Roughead in my rucks and am thinking of freeing up some money (Tambling to Vlastuin... Which would be my D4... So pretty light on in my backs) then going Wright to Ryder? That would leave me with Cox and Roughy in my fwds and Ryder in the Rucks? Or should I hold fire with Wright?

Of those 5 you listed I would think in order Leuey, Mummy, Smith the best picks in terms of price and reward

Jacobs may struggle this season as he fights for points with Crows' other great SC scorers e.g. Danger, Thommo, Sloane, Wright, Walker, Reilly

Goldy I am just not a fan of - heard he may not even be their no.1 ruck as they are impressed with Dan Currie so far

So yeah, I think Mummy and Leuey are the 2 best value but if you need the money to spend elsewhere consider a Smith/Leuey combo which still has plenty of merit to it.

Out of those rookies, definitely cull Colq - just too skinny to play a chunk of games this year. If you are set on DPP in your mids get Goodes in there instead and pick an extra back rookie

If that's Tom Mitchell them I would flick him next, however if it is Kane then I would get rid of Crouch. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Crouch and think he will be a gun but in terms of 2013 I see him getting vested and not as much game time as some other rookies

Hope I helped :D

Tbh I think Wright is too good to be tagging so I wouldn't be trading out after just 1 NAB game... But if you must consider just a straight swap to Dusty/Robbo

As for your backs, Tambling or Vlast at D4 is a bit too weak IMO. I think Atley or Yarran are more reasonable 4th defenders if $$$ allow

Like the idea of having Cox, Ryder and Roughy - all are good picks and set for good years. But may have to compromise to avoid your other lines getting too weak

Hope this makes sense

Thanks Jayman,

You have confirmed what I was thinking, and i'm currently running Smith, Luey, Currie, Rowe, with Coxy as a fwd, and I'm liking that.

Kane Mitchell, not Tom, so keen to keep him.  Will cut Colquhoun for premium. Goodes locked in my backline.

Have loved the look of Crouch.  Will be tough for me to leave him out, but yes the crows have many good mids, so hopefully not too many vests for him.

Cheers.  Love your work Jayman.
