Midfield: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, JP. Kennedy, P. Dangerfield, M. Murphy, O. Wines, K. Mitchell, J. O' Meara, (B. Crouch, J. Viney.)

Rucks: Z. Smith, M. Leuenberger, (S. Rowe, D. Currie.)

Forwards: L. Franklin, D. Cox, J. Bartel, T. Rockliff, T. Varcoe, B. Macaffer, (M. Paparone, S. Kerridge.)

Cash Left: $122,800

Looking to do something with the cash but dunno what as of yet.
Rookies subject to change as of selection of course.

Like the look of Yarran down back.
Like Mumford's early draw and low price.
Like Cox in the forward line.
Like Dangerfield as a POD

Don't like Leuenberger but like his price and potential.
Don't like Mumford's injury prone ways.
Don't like Birchall
Don't like so many rookie back but there is a lot to look at.

Say what you like and i'll reply to yours if you like. Think I have a bit to offer but having my bootstudder status is hard to get credibility haha!

Hi mate
Same strategy as my team and I concur with you on birchall!
Dangerfield wont be a POD this year I wouldnt think because he seems to be getting mentioned a lot
Do you think bartel will be able to keep his average above 90 because he seems to be in decline
I personally would spend the money on a ruckman. Either Mumford or Goldstein you would expect to return to high scoring this year but both come at a risk.
With a new ruckman i give your team a 9/10
Please give mine a rate

Mundy instead of Murphy

Duffield instead of Birchall

Don't like Z.Smith even though he has been tipped to avg over 100 this year.

Like the team over all. Very Strong

Ringo

Strong Team overall

With Birchill with the arrival of Lake this year he may be able to run free so more points. Lake will get the lock down roles with Gibson.  If still worried I would consider Duffield. Hanley or Hartlett.

Rather than Yarran have you considered Jordan Russell at a lesser price Has looked good pre-season and if you listen to Pies supporters is in their best 22.

Very Strong Team Overall - Rate Team 8.75/10 discounted because of slight risk in rucks with Smith and Berger.  However Smith will be sole ruck at coast this year with only Gorringe for support following departure of Hickey and retirement of Fraser.

I'm a Freo supporter cuz_crew and I've never rated Duffield. Broughton was always the better player I thought.
Also people say that Duffield scored 105+ without Broughton last year in those games.
Well they replaces Duffield with Pearce, if not Pearce, Ibbotson is back and playing to.
I think Heath Shaw is the go at back but injuries and dumb play could hurt that.

Like Mundy as a player but I like Murphy more, underpriced due to his shoulder game last year and I believe will be a top 10 mid. Mundy I don't think will be. Even if he is underpriced still an awkward price to make money off. Is a gun though.

Yeah iffy on Smith to but underpriced I believe and will ruck as much as possible. Rucks are up in the air.

Ringo:
Yeah I think the same with Birchall but still doesn't take him into a Super premium back I don't think. But good user and at a club where foot efficiency is good and they control the ball a lot it should help.
Hanley could break out, but looking for someone who is already there. Shaw or Birchall I think are my only two options seeing as i'm going with 3 rookies down back.

Yeah my old man is the biggest one eyed Pies supporter you've ever met, doesn't rate him and think he won't play a lot initially. But could be the fact he is from Carlton is why he doesn't rate him.
I like Yarran but not at D3 definitely a D4 candidate but back rookies are pretty good this year.

Thanks for the look and rate. Rucks are a bit tricky due to Sandilands, Natanui down, then all these other high priced rucks underdone like Maric, Goldstein, Mumford, Leuenburger etc.

I personally believe mid priced rucks could be the go with cash cows and point differential. But could just be me.

Ringo

Just remember backs are not high scoring. Only Goddard and Shaw both 101.2; Waters 100.3 and Scotland 100.1, scored more tan 100 and not by a lot and there were only another 10 that scored more than 90 so I think if you get a back averaging 95/100 he will be a premium back.

Ringo:
Decided to go Birchall down to Broughton.
Leuenberger up to Mumford

$700 left.

See how things pan out.
Also you're a Brisbane man, Staker is meant to miss anywhere between a week - two months. Any updates? Because if he misses only first one I think i'll start with him. Thanks mate.

tor01doc

A couple of good moves I think.

Just a thought, if Leue plays, would you still leave him out? Seems the steal of the year if he plays.

Money he makes would help you get Mumford and then some.

tor01doc:

Have to do some more research before deciding. I just don't trust a big man coming off Achilles and other little niggles. Plus hasn't looked very promising in the NAB but then again what 300,000 or less ruckman has? I think i'll end up with him but until then need to look at all options.
I like Z. Smith a lot. Think he will have it all in front of him. Frees up a lot of money elsewhere to.

Your thoughts on Leuenberger? and just other ruckman in general?

cuz_crew:
I like him. Been watching him since last year in the championships, being a Fremantle supporter but living in Victoria gives a different perspective on things I think.
Looked really good last year in the championships and I was hoping Fremantle would pick him up.
Tall and quick can run all day. I see he has been named in the squad for the lions this weekend.

I think he bring something to the table that the Lions don't really have.
Also depends where they play him. I think forward is best but Cornelius and Karnezis are a step ahead. But could also go back. Where the like of Docherty could be pushed out.
Or if they want to use his run on a wing and put Rockliff, Zorko more in the guts / forward he may be used there to also would push out a Polec. We will know more this weekend where I hope he shows off what he is capable of.

Ringo of course will probably know a lot more about him this year as I haven't got a lot on him since he was drafted.

These are just my findings on him though so don't take my word for it. I'm just a bootstudder haha!

Ringo

With Staker do not think he will be available till possibly round 3 and then will have to fight way back in if other are still starring.  Lester, Bewick, Docherty or Karnezis would be one of the ones to make way imo.

Do not see Paparone playing in Round 1 although has looked good at times.  If Forwards fail can see him being called up maybe.  Lions have a lot of depth this year and this is my reasoning.

batt

I'll make this short and sweet.

-I too don't like Birch, am all over Duffman at the moment
-Mids are great but I still fear Murph will get tagged out of games
-Prefer Zorks over Bartel (no guarantee Bartel will get as much mid time when StevieJ, Christensen etc come back)
-Like Smith as a unique, very awkward setting in the rucks so probably a good place to take a risk
-Paperone and Stevenson are outsiders for round 1
-Reckon rookie backs will be too weak come round 1 and you may have to upgrade one to a mid-pricer (or prem)
