I have 703,700 in cap space and need to pick my mid 1.  I already have pendles, dangerfield and cotchin. Is dane swan the best option besides ablett?

JPK is a great option, Swan just doesn't seem to get the cudos in SC

Will he be getting the number 1 tagger every week?

FactHunt

Swan                                                              GAJ
2012: 126.2 ave from 18 games                         138.4 from 20
2011: 122.0 from 21                                        127.1 from 20
2010: 126.9 from 22                                        129.9 from 21
2009: 123.2 from 22                                        140.1 from 19

Easy choice IMO... find some coin  ;)

Swan is DT God

Ablett is SC God

I would definately have one in either format but I have both in both formats.

If I had to have one in SC Ablett as said previously is the ONE.

That said if you can't find the money Swan is a must, for your captains scores. Pendles is more consistent "usually" but doesn't have the spikes Swan and Ablett have, as often.

GCSkiwi

Just a thought really, but if you don't have the permacaptain god that is Ablett, I would probably leave Pendles as captain, but have Swan in as well. Pendles more consistent IMO so less chance of a Swan meltdown killing your captain score, and I think Pendles wont be too far behind or may even go bigger than Swan on average...

i dont understand how he doesnt get cudos in sc? what does that mean? he still averages 120 every year and is a must have every year?

kilbluff1985

Hard to put it in words but he gets a lot of cheap possessions in SC players get scored on influence and efficiency etc

Colliwobblers

Ok so what you say about pendles and consistency is correct until last season where Swan decided as well as the king of DT he would have a crack at being the king of SC.

As far as Swans Captains scores in SC?

7 scores over 140
3 under 100 - low of 86 which doesn't count it was in a final :) so make that 2 in the home and away season.

well he is doing something right if year after year he scores massive scores and averages 120-125? and in 2011, 2010, and 2009 he averages slighty higher in sc then dt each of those years. last season was the only season he has been significantly more of a dtér and he still had his second best sc year. and was only.5 ppg of his best. this swan is dt not sc is a myth

Ricochet

To be honest I think Beams could average more than Swan in SC this year

yeah but he often doesnt score as high as you expect him to after looking at his possession count

I think it also has to do with that in SC there are 6 other players within 6 points of Swans average and 8 within 10 points.
In DT there is Swan... then 9 points to Ablett... then there are Beams, Watson, Boyd, Cotchin, Pendles who are 17-23 points off Swan.
There's no doubting Swans SC scoring ability its just that quite a few others score very similar. Where as in DT, nobody even comes close
