Some very unique picks here, which will either make or break, but well worth the risk. Just wait for the word on Leunberger with the dodgy Achilles.

apart from that very good team.

Thanks mate. If worse comes worse for cox to swing into thy role for a while and then slide maccaffer in forward line. So should be right.

Just a couple of comments.  Calculated risks taken here and you have to take risks to get the cheese.

Def: Very solid Maybe downgrade Armstrong to rookie to get some cash.
Mids: With no Ablett would prefer Swan to Pendles solely due to the fact that Swan has the ability for higher scores which may be needed to counteract those teams with Ablett, Swans highest score over the last 2 years 180 v Pendles 161. Like the choice of Swallow. Would like to see Wines as a rookie though if possible.
Rucks: May have to rethink strategy with Berger in doubt. Few options available keep and bench for a week or 2 depending on what scan reveals, bring in similar priced ruck or slightly cheaper, upgarde to ruck you can afford with cash, If benching consider bring Cox to rucks and Rowe forward - Need to ensure you have a forawrd emergency playing though.
Fwds: Think Wright is a risk at F3.  I would look at seeing what prem I could getah by downgrading Christensen/ de boer to JJ Kennedy, Varcoe or Byrnes and upgrading the other to a prem Walker, Hawkins or others that you like.
Will reduce number of mid pricers you have to spread risk - Not all mid pricers will pay off.

At the moment I count only 9 what I consider prem keepers  (do not consider Atley, Moloney and Wright prems at this stage). This being the case you will need at least 20 of your 30 trades for upgrade purposes to get 18 prems. Not leaving a lot for injuries etc.

By cutting down mid pricers you will reduce the need for trades,  Your decision and if it is your strategy then fine but very careful trading is required to get maximum benefits.

Rate team 7.5/10 only because of risks.

# final update. Taken all considerations and believe I have The best start up for the season. What's everyone else's opinion. Rate or hate. Yes I've gone to Goldstein again in ruck, believe he will have breakout year and taken Siposs out for karnezis cause he played good. Also changed docherty for Armstrong and taken murphy out for swallow as I believe swallow is going to get average of 120+ this year and could mean the difference of a good score or not.

Hey man, sorry i didn't comment earlier when you asked.

Backs: I think your batting a little deep here with all the quality rookie options the backline seems to be throwing up this year i think you have to jump on more than 3 of them, up to 6 look likely to be named for round 1 and this will free up a lot of cash for upgrades elsewhere in your team.

Mids: I can understand not starting GAJ although personally never will. The guys you have selected should all have good years so no problems but is maybe a tad weaker compared to other teams around.

Rucks: Solid although keep an eye on Luey, word from Voss is he will struggle to line up for round 1 and coming back from an achillies who knows how he will perform and how his comeback workload will be managed. Personally have jumped ship as i think there are better mid-price options available in other lines.

Forwards: Solid line again the only problem i have is picking all of Wright/De Boer/Chirstensen is a huge gamble. These guys are all >400K and for this money you are hoping they will break out and become keepers and im not sure any will be in the top 10 forwards come the end of the year, even if they should show some improvement. I like the gamble on one...maybe 2 max....but there are guys <300K who are options that won't score to much less than these guys but will generate far more cash.

Just some thoughts mate, your team isn't a bad one by any means i just think the lack of top tier premiums from the get go will have you sitting a bit behind the pack off the bat.

Do you have money to spare? Backs and forwards ok, though I think having Wright, DeBoer and Christensen is a bit much, I would definitely have varcoe ahead of Christensen from the cats. I had Christensen last year and I don't really see much that makes me want him back in this year. I don't see much difference in scoring potential compared to the price difference. So unless you think Christensen will be in your final team, save yourself some cash on someone who can make you more money...

Gotta be honest and say I'm not a fan of the mids or rucks. Berger looked like the deal of the century but the shimmer is starting to fade, and I genuinely think Currie could be stiff competition for Goldy in the Roo's rucks. So they're both a risk in my books, and I honestly struggle to see where the gain has been in your team given that you have pretty much the cheapest set of rucks that could be considered potential prems.
Mids, I don't rate Pendles as a standalone captain, nor do I think there is much to pick in Swallow. He'll score well but I don't think he'll be top 10 by the end of the season and I don't think he will make money.

Essentially I pick players based off either being keepers or making money to get keepers. Obviously for your money makers you don't want to pick solely rookies because their job security and scores towards league/overall wont be that great. So for all of the mid pricers you need to ask yourself if they are going to breakout and be keepers, or score enough above their breakeven to make you a bit of cash and get decent enough scores while doing so.

Great team, I think the money you have spent on fwds will pay off given the lack of solid fwd rooks but i think some of the money spent in def could be better spent getting swan if not ablett.

swan is in for a big one and you need a captain, pendles and kennedy and cotchin can't be relied on for the huge scores you want regularly from your captain.

this could cost you a lot of points. armstrong to stevensen (on the field) and bring in another bench defender rook would pay for ablett or swan instead of one of the 4 elite mids you have.

again christensen may disappoint you. but then again he may not.

cox in the ruck for a few weeks burger on the bench, which is why i say good move having the mid depth, but i would take varcoe over christensen and save a lot more money while your at it...

still small points, great side should go really well.
