Other one died down a bit, and some of my views have changed too! Ask me any DT related questions and I'll give you my honest opinion! I will be mainly posting at night, if I get behind I will lock the thread and catch up.

Thanks

I'm planning on starting one of either Sylvia or Cloke and plan on having an almost straight swap to Franklin come the end of Round 7, ready for his  game opponents of GCS, GWS and Melb (Unsure the order). For this to happen Franklin would need to drop 19k in each of his 5 price changes as well as Sylvia going up 19k a week for his 5 price changes. This may happen due to their draws. Here is a little research i've have done:

Options:

Sylvia-
(Scores from 2011/12)

Rnd 1 Opp Port: 115, 105
Rnd 2 Opp Ess: 79
Rnd 3 Opp WCE: 80, 83
Rnd 4 Opp GWS: 97, 11
Rnd 5 Opp BL: 86, 99
Rnd 6 Opp Carl: 113
Rnd 7 Opp GCS: 117

Total Avg: 99 from 11 games

Cloke-
(Scores from 2011/12)

Rnd 1 Opp NM: 47, 93, 113
Rnd 2 Opp Carl: 62, 80, 107, 106
Rnd 3 Opp Haw: 97, 29, 108, 95, 152
Rnd 4 Opp Ric: 122, 87
Rnd 5 Opp Ess: 68, 159, 134
Rnd 6 Opp Stk: 70, 78, 115
Rnd 7 Opp Fre: 49, 116

Total Avg 95 from 22 games
*Scores in Bold are his 2011 scores. 2011 total Avg: 110 from 10 games

Cloke is more risky because he has a more likely chance of pulling out a 40 which results in a price drop instead of an 19k price rise, but is always far more likely to reach 140+ resulting in a few big price rises

So im finding this decision very hard! Sylvia originally got the nod because of the extra 4 point Avg, but then i released that Cloke averaged a massive 110 against these opponents in 2011. So if he was to recapture his form from 2011 with no contract talks hanging over his head. He will then be the much better pick. I currently have Cloke in my side but am still very unsure.

So what are your thoughts on this??

Thanks Hawkers!

Master Q

Both are extremely risky. If I had to chose one I'd have to say Sylvia, as I think he'll be more consistent which gives you more opportunities to upgrade. Cloke could get 100 one week before you'd like to upgrade, then score a couple of 50s and you'll be stuck with him. In saying that, my theory this season is to have no more than 1, what I call "Draw Upgrades". In my opinion that is just looking for trouble, so if you have another guy who is temporary (very short term, not like Embley and more like NRoo) then I'd say stay away from one of them.

Thanks for the question  ;)

If I play cox in the rucks is setanta a viable foward rookie seeing as how it's such a struggle to find some?

I like your thinking, but I think even at Cartlon when he was a major target he was never pumping out those major scores. Atm I have Cox in my Forward line with Rowe on my Ruck bench if one of my rucks ever go down and I can't trade  ;)

If you really want a link I guess you could get Roughy as a Premo - unsure about any other rookie RUC/FWD besides Rowe though...

Yeah he is in my foward line aswell at the moment with setanta on my ruck bench. Forgot about Rowe, might go setanta>Rowe and pocket the 50k

Sounds good. Only thing is I think Setanta will play quite a bit more than Rowe  ;)

There is more and more talking going on about Patton. People are beginning to think about playing him as a f5 over mid prices like Varcoe. Assuming I have crunched the numbers about right by the bye's Patton will get a higher price increase than Varcoe even if he averages 5-10ppg lower. With Patton coming into his second year, weighing more than 100kg, looking good in NAB and similar js is he worth taking the risk?

I`m thinking of taking Whitfield instead of Embley,Ball or Moloney to save money but to also used the cash elsewhere

Yeah these exact same thoughts were going through my head yesterday. At the moment I have Varcoe instead of Patton. While they have the same JS, Varcoe definitely has more potential to average close to Premium level. Your putting 180k into an unproven forward, who although went Pick 1 was not extremely impressive last season. Unsure if he'll be GWS' No.1 target, but to be honest I think he is a little awkwardly priced. You'll more likely get better scoring from Varcoe, and more cash from a cheap rookie.

I'm still considering him though. Could be a POD if he continues to get good reports and/or if more forward rookies are unavailable.

Won't score as well as Embley, but will make you more cash than Ball and Moloney.

Unsure about his JS as well... Will he be named weekly?
