Looking to finish my forward line (for now) and can't decide who should join my current forward like;
Cox, Zorko, Rocky, Robbo, Varcoe, ......, (Daniher and McCaffer)

Windigo

Hm, I'd lean towards Byrnes. But more NAB games should help make your choice easier.

Don't rule out Petterd either, has to be elevated, but him getting a game ahead of Knights might mean something..Or nothing at all.  ::)

owenbond007

why not play macaffer and bench like a neade type player and save 80k +

Jukes

Patton. Has basically infinite job security, looks to be over his injuries, has truckloads of potential and smashed it in NAB 1 (34 and 25 I think it was). Can't see Byrnes, Knights or Karnezis beating him, and doubtful about Varcoe.

With another pre-season under his belt can easily see him hitting 75+ and is cheaper than the others easily.

Ricochet

Not sure about 75+ Jukes
Buddy only ever went 57 in his second year
Cameron 58 in his first
Lynch 65 in second year
J.Brown only 50 in second year in a premiership side
Cloke 56 in second
JRoo 58

Only ones I can think of in recent history to go 70+ in second year are Pav and NRoo.

while im definately going to monitor him, we need to remember that GWS wernt coming up against full strength midfields. so Patton got more and better quality delivery than he will probably get all year.

I expect a few low games for him but a 70 average is possible.

Peter

Patton may score 70+ but hard to see how he can average 70, when he will get hit with some low numbers against the strong teams

pommyadam

not Patton for me
had him last year and he's been blacklisted

may pick up some big games, but will also score around 30 against practically all top 8 sides

Jalapeno

None...

Get rookies and use the cash to strentghen up your proven guns :)

true, however darling played 20 in his first season. The eagles are alot better than GWS at the moment. and the eagles best 2 forwards (kennedy and lecras) were gone for most of the season.

and he still barely averaged 70.

Patton im tipping 60

Jukes

Still Holz- would you prefer a 60 average and 20 games or a 65 average and 10 games for 80k cheaper?

what a coincidence- patton is also a first pick key forward like roo.

cameron is smaller than patton, and he was often double teamed as well, since we had no other genuine tall targets, and his delivery was poor. The forward line should be getting better delivery this year, and it looks like patton will be sitting at CHF with cameron at FF for the most part.

to be fair with brown, that was a long time ago, the game's changed a lot since then, how rookies are played etc. Back when brown was drafted it was rare for first year players to even average over 50 (in the 02 first round draft only goddard and wells (55, 56) averaged over 50) and brown averaged nearly 70 in his first year, then copped some classic second year blues.

even the 01 super draft with players like hodge, ball, judd, bartel, nds, ablett, swan, stevie j, kelly, sam mitchell only hodge (61), ball (66), judd (64), stevie j (60), kelly (62) averaged over 60. You compare that to this year where we had three draftes averaging over 90 (to be fair, two were mature aged), then like coniglio on 80, treloar 82, adams 75 etc. you can see how the game and scoring has increased, in general, but extremely noticeably for rookies.

ftr, I see patton around the 65-70 mark, similiar to lynch. Difference between buddy and patton is that when buddy was drafted he weighed like 86kg... pattons like 104kg now, he's an absolute monster.

I dont really have arguments for riewoldt and cloke, as I cant find their drafted stats, but I have a feeling they were also pretty light.

it depends... if those games are consequative, then the 65 average. If they're not though, aka, has shower JS, then the 60 avg.

really it depends how many they can play in the first 8 games. once a rookie plays about 7-8 games they will be out of my squad.

of course it takes a whole season to play 6-8 games that not good but i think i can find some guys who will do that. If not im going to go up to varcoe, byrnes as i think they can go 10+ on top of patton easy.
