I'd do that if I were you - Beams is a jet and no guarantees Varcoe will even score that well :-X

I've actually gone:
Murphy --> Whitfield
Varcoe --> Cox
McEvoy --> Maric
???

Really quite like that mate! I did similar yesterday: Redden -> Whitfield, Terlich -> Stanley/Grimes & T.Lee -> Karnezis 8)

Reckon that downgrade in the mids (to Whitfield who should be a gun and a very decent scorer this season) allows good upgrades elsewhere on the field, definitely worth it 8)

bad feeling about only having 4 Gun MID though; one other option was to go:
Varcoe --> Patton (Field Macaffer at f6)
Murphy --> Beams (Swan, Ablett, Boyd, beams, Pendles)

The decision of 4 premium mids + Whitfield vs 4 premium backs vs5 premium fwds is absolutely killing me :-X :-X

I can't decide which is best - atm I've got exact same backline as you, and same rucks. Difference is:

Mids: Swan, Ablett, Beams, Cotchin, Pendles, Wines, Lonergan, Mitchell (Crouch, O'Meara)

Fwds: Cox, Zorko, Rockliff, Martin, Karnezis, Macaffer (Neade, Simpson)


So basically for me (also applies to you):

Cotchin/other premium (113) + Paparone/Neade/Simpson/other (54)

vs

Robinson (101) + Whitfield (82)

So yep, statistically it looks like you're making the right choice... BUT I really don't want to drop any of my premium mids atm, looks killer as it is :-X

Two other options I've considered have been:
1. Cotchin -> Greene       and        J.Simpson -> A.Young/J.Patton

Young averaged almost 47 unsubbed last year and 70ish in NAB cup so far so could be an OK smokie :-X Same price as Patton, could he be worth it?


2. Ablett -> Dangerfield    and J.Simpson -> R.Petterd/T.Varcoe

Dangerfield should smash it this year I think and Petterd will also do well if he continues to play the sweeping half back role he's been playing in NAB cup...



Basically allows me to keep a 5 premium midfielder but have another mid-pricer up forwards...

Leaving my fwd line as: Cox, Zorko, Rockliff, Martin, Karnezis, O'Hailpin (Macaffer, Neade)


Kinda like that - leaves me with a premium set up of 3-5-1-4...

BUT it would be a Mid rook that is <$130K (Macaffer's price)... So who would that be? I reckon I'd go with the mid premo tbh mate, cos I don't think many mid rooks apart from Whitfield will go 80+ :-X

My team is very similar to both of yours with a slight difference and I wouldn't mind an opinion from you both.

I'll also try to explain my reasoning for picking these other players in my team

My team as it stands:

Def: Goddard/Gibbs/Grimes/Vlastuin/Pittard/Goodes (Stevenson & Terlich)

Mid: Swan/Ablett/Boyd/Pendles/ROK/Ball/K.Mitchell/Jeager (Crouch & Viney)

Ruck: Z.Smith/Leuey (Rowe & Currie)

Fwd: Cox/Rocky/Robbo/Martin/Karnezis/Patton (Lee & Neade)

Cash left: $9.100

Ok, here goes:

ROK in mid due to some easy games first up and should score solid and increase in price
Ball in mid due to being underpriced/should score well/increase in price - if this doesn't happen after first 2 rounds I can downgrade him to best performing rookie and keep a fair chunk of cash in the bank.

If both ROK and Ball score well though I will be ahead on points more than most I would think

Zac Smith should do fairly well this year and probably go for a mid 70 or so average score for the year and increase in price. If however, he doesn't do well I can swap him with Cox in my Fwd line and get another primo (with the cash from a downgraded Ball?)

To me this seems a pretty good plan but wouldn't mind your thoughts on it.
