Why didn't Harwood play in either match when he was named in the squad on Thursday?
Ringo? Anyone else?
Have not heard anything official CF.  Did not get to Metricon myself due to family commitments. Will post here if I find anything concrete, Maybe did something in warm up as he was 100% to me at training earlier this week.

Ringo

This is the Team I selected after the Intra club trial

FB: Matt Maguire, Daniel Merrett, Joel Patfull
HB: Mitchell Golby, Sam Docherty, Daniel Rich
C: Tom Rockliff, Jed Adcock, Pearce Hanley
HF:Dayne Zorko, Jonathan Brown, Joshua Green
FF: Ryan Lester,Aaron Cornelius , Rohan Bewick
Fol: Matthew Leuenberger, Brent Moloney, Jack Redden
Int: Simon Black , Andrew Raines, Claye Beams, Ash McGrath/Stefan Martin

Thought I would post it here and suggest changes as we go thorough the NAB cup.

Please feel free to add own comments as well

Based on last night performance but bear in mind 3 games to go and only mini games for first round.
Yeo may replace Docherty
Martin may start
Lester, Cornelius, Lisle and Karnezis probably fighting for FF position

tbagrocks

Would be nice to have Rich replacing Hartlett and Gibbs next year in the Backs ;D  if he is going to play there it would make him to risky this year for a starter?

Nails

Golby is a star

Save yourself 100K and start him over Gibbs :o

BB67th

On top of the ladder after the first round of the NAB Cup. Sounds about right to me! Adelaide of 2013, get around us lads!

How are we the Adelaide of 2013? Adelaide didn't win the granny.

Sydney of 2013.

Adelaide did stay in the bottom 8 for a while, win the NAB Cup and lose close in a Prelim, so I would be happy if we finished the year with that, but you are right, why not go all the way? Brisbane = 2013 Premiers :D

Colliwobblers

2 years to go and a LOT OF LUCK - like any team needs to win a flag.

Love the lions list, just can't do it without another 2 forwards and defenders to really step up to elite.

Mids are SET. oversupply, just like Sydney had in 2012 mid guns missing games that will be the Lions in a year or two...

just got to sort out the fwd and def and the burger has to stay 100% fit until the kids develop to hep him shoulder the load.

I think like WCE to be a superpower you need 2 dominant rucks. soone enough the Lions will have this too.

tough thing about footy and running a list is the key position players fwd and back and the rucks take so LONG to develop and you spend all those years developing them and dont know if they will ever be ELITE, but you have to recruit them develop them and HOPE.

all that said Lions to finish just outside the 8 this season, inside the 8 just next season, the seson after genuine contenders and from there they probably have a 3-4 year window to get a flag :)

if free agency doesn't flower them over :)

BB67th

Free agency shouldn't do us any harm in the next 2-3 years. We still have the 3rd youngest list in the AFL behind only GWS and GC which is also very encouraging so I think we are in for a good tilt at the premiership in the near future.

Ringo

Like your points Colli agree on forwards but not on defenders.

Merrett has signed for 3 years and will be leading the Group
Patful a very under rated player by most other clubs  and always plays above his size
Maguire can be a bit erratic at times.
That is a solid back 3 when you also add Lester, Staker and Polkinghorne (now being converted to a backman) it is sound.

Through in the half back line s of Golby, Adcock, Harwood, Yeo, Docherty, Michael with Hanley and Rich rotating a solid line as well.

Hopefully Martin will become 2nd Tall this year and Cornelius and Lisle giving back up while Paporone  and Close develop hopefully getting games this year.

Not shying away from my prediction of Lions finishing 7th this year with a softish draw,  Premiership in 2015.

Only other free agents that are coming up would be Adcock and McGrath Black and Brown more than likelly will not be going anywhere.  So free agency not really an issue for us.

Colliwobblers

all good and correct points Ringo I do overlook Patful - great season in 2012.

7th is possible so is 2015 optimistic but possible :)

how good did Rich look?

and zorks in the leadership group and seems to be moving in only one direction - up

browny just needs a chop out and like NRoo he can still deliver.

corndog excited as expected, and crpark looked good too

then there is the polecs of that draft then the dochertys of that draft the nteh new ones from this draft

its an avalanche of talent coming through just where and when will it all develop....

one thing is certain better days are ahead for the Lions. i think Richmond nad North are just ahead in that race to crack the 8 but the gap is rapidly closing....

Benus

Yeah I can't remember the stats from last year but our defence was actually right up there.

Forward line is the biggest worry but exciting times ahead!

Hahaha... If he tears it up in the next few games like he did last night then I'll feel duty-bound as a lions fan to put him in.

On a sidenote though Gibbs did actually look good today and was midding it up which is very encouraging

Do not think so tbag - you may see him rotating into mids as well,  Adcock, Hanley and Rich will all possibly see mid time throughout the game.

Hey ringo and benus and other Lion supporters. Could you let me know why you ave dropped Harwood down the preference order so much for this season? Played 16 games last year and from what I had seen of him he looked quite impressive playing in the back pocket, but you both have him well out of the best 22 at the moment. Has he been training quite poorly so far?

Hey CF - Just my opinions and bear in mind things may change during the course of the NAB Cup. Harwood sat out the intra club trial as a result of minor ankle strain. (Apologies for the early incorrect advice as I had Polec in my book as suffering the ankle strain), This gave Golby, Docherty, Yeo, Close (who played back)  Polkinghorne,  Wrigley and others the chance to really press their claims. Not sure whether the strain is still there and that was reason for not playing on Saturday night despite being named. He trained reasonably strongly on Monday.
However, as can be seen, training and trial from does not necessarily carry over to NAB cup form as we have seen with Docherty.
