Longer impressed tonight.  Delivered the ball inside forward in one passage where he hit I think it was Martin on the chest. What are the chances of running both Longer and Leuenberger all season? Probably slim with Stef Martin playing deep forward.
With the emergence of Cornelius do not think this will happen unless we drop Martin and play the duo.

That is pretty much the way I saw it as well as an outsider looking in. In terms of a club perspective it is great, fantasy not so much.

We knew late yesterday if we won final would be at Etihad.  had hoped fro Metricon with the unavailability of the Gabba but money and attendance figures probably won out. Although only 13000 attended tonights match.  At least the match is to be televised live on free to air as per the agreement.

Does not really upset me as it gives the guys more experience playing in Melbourne where we will have to get 3/4 wins to make the 8.

From tonights match:
With the Heat unlimited interchanges were allowed and Brisbane left out Berger, Banfield and Paparone from selected 27.
Cornelius cemented his place in forwards - Will be interesting to see if Brisbane go with the 3 talls in Brown, Cornbag and Martin.  Small forwards Bewick, Zorko, Green will love the fall.
Karnezis another sound game whilst not outstanding would have done enough to cement his place.
Hanley showed he is on target for another big season.
Rich is shaping up nicely after a couple of disappointing seasons.  Was very instrumental in getting the ball to the Lions forward line.
Rockliff again showed he needs to be a lock in forward line.
Zorko a tad disappointing tonight with only 17 possessions.
Docherty probably just done enough to stay in side for next week.
Golby showing no ill effects with return from injury and another sound game moping up across the half back line.
Brown showed his lack of match fitness and should be the better for the run,  Showed his hardness with a headbut to the behind post - Brown 1 Post 0
Have a sound ruck stocks to back up Berger with Longer, Michael and pinch hitting from Martin.

Did Hanley play mid?
You think Rocky should be forward? I always thought u were a big one for him being in the mids

Hanley played running half back and actually kicked a goal as well.

I think he means in terms of SC and DT. He played in the middle and racked up the ball. Should be a lock in all fantasy forward lines.

So if the GF is played in Melbourne next week Brisbane get ripped off. They finished first therefore they deserve the home final.
they would have, but the GABBAs being used for cricket atm- not exactly getting ripped off by the afl, just by having their ground unavailable.

There's always Metricon.
It should be played at metricon. Its not fair that we have to head down south and play.

Into the final, what a performance! Game should be at Metricon, but oh well, we get a bit more experience playing down in Melbourne instead.

GM

Have not heard anything official on Berger from my Lions feed or contacts so not really sure what is going on.  Will post when I hear soemthing definite.
Longer will more than hold his own I think and only needs to average 60+ to increase in value. Had 16 hit outs against Pies on Saturday night and in the intra club trial had a good partnership going with Rocky who read it well,
Am thinking of going possibly Longer myself if Berger does not play and trading up when he goes out.  Also looking at going Stef Martin who will be in team regardless and provide Ruck relief.

C: Patrick Karnezis, Tom Rockliff, Pearce Hanley

HF: Rohan Bewick, Jonathan Brown, Josh Green

Foll: Billy Longer, Brent Moloney, Daniel Rich

Int: Sam Docherty, Ashley McGrath, Claye Beams, Andrew Raines, Jack Redden, James Polkinghorne

Emer: Marco Paparone, Ryan Lester, Jack Crisp

Only surprise for me is the omission of Lester to emergencies. Given that this will be virtually our Round 1 Team. Thought he had done enough to stay in team but may be the one to suffer because of Team Balance but thought he may be better than Yeo.

Karnezis playing in the centre again,

GM

Looking forward to see how  Karnezis,Longer & Corn handle themselves in a high pressue game.
I am sure it will be game on for both these teams.

tbagrocks

Interesting Yeo in the back pocket, does this mean he might get regular games there?

Ringo

Played a few games there last year tbag - As I said thought Lester may be in front of him but he has played well in the NAB cup. Looked good last week against the Pies.
