An article from the club summarising stats from Saturday Night.

Polkinghorne and Justin Clarke add further intrigue to the back decisions

If Moloney and Rockliff continue this form they will become locks. Next 2 games against the impressive GWS and Pies may answer some more questions with Adcock, Hanley, Mayes, Polec and Harwood to play first games and Berger on target to play against Pies.

Team for Saturday at Wagga - Still some tweaking going on with McGrath, Rich, Bartlett, Lisle, Merrett, Joel Patfull, Richard Newell, Raines, Wearden, McKeever, Wrigley. missing the game. See what next week brings.

With Longer, Martin and Berger named not expecting a lot from Berger this week.

BB67th

Good to see Berger will be getting back into it. Hopefully a smooth return for him.

Also the game will be televised online on the lions website if anyone wants to watch it.

Here is the article with stream link embedded in it for convenience.

Link has been organised through GWS so we thank them for the link given that it will not be live on Fox,

Round 2 - Vs GWS
Lions  1sg.12g19bh 100
GWS   2sg.12g7bh 97

Wayward kicking nearly cost us the game with 19 behinds.

Karnezis - Played mostly of the half back line - With another strong performance putting his hand up for selection Round 1 - 26 disposals and 4 marks was everywhere. SC Price $262k and if named alternative to Varcoe and Byrnes as listed as forward only.
Cornelius - Super performance last night - possibly finally realising his full potential. Should have cemented Forward position for first round with 13 disposals, 5 marks and a return of 5.4
Zorko again very strong with 17disposals, 7marks, 5 tackles, Return 1.1.2.
Rockliff - Only played half a game and replaced Molony in 2nd half and in the half of football returned 11 possessions, 2marks 1 goal, Should now be a lock in Most SC Sides.
Hanley had a solid return from Hamstring Injury playing 2 and a bit quarters.
Claye Beams continues to impress with 21 disposals - Will probably be bench player for Round 1.
Berger - Subbed in for longer at 13 minute mark of 3rd quarter - and racked 6 possessions 1 mark and 5 hit outs in  that period.
Docherty had an improved game with 15 disposals Could be the player to miss if Karnezis is named.

Matt maguire was strong in defence with the absence of both Merrett and Patfull.

Next game against Pies and I would anticipate possibly Brisbanes strongest side being named given that Vossie has stated that he wants NAB Momentum to continue into season proper.

GM

Great in depth report Ringo.
Thanks

Club official stats report from Saturday Night

http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-03-04/stats-breakdown

Did not notice Docherty's effeciency at 93.3%.

Article confirms most of what was said above but interesting reading.  Will Zorko be the forward tagging option given his tackles stats in the last couple of matches?

BB67th

I sure hope he won't. I reckon he should be used out on a wing and rotating into the forward line a bit. Probably like Swan I guess getting all the possessions on the outside of the pack.

Ringo

With Blackie likely to miss Round 1 The Lions will more tnan likely be fielding very close to their Round 1 lineup.

With Brown, Merrett,Patfull, Raines, Rich and McGrath set to be named for Saturday night we wait to see what the team structure will be. Role of Karnezis and Zorko will be studied closely.

However with the 3 sub rule in place maybe not a lot can be written in if position is shared.

BB67th

Good to see we should have a full strength side in.

What's the word on Black at the moment Ringo, how close is he?

He is behind schedule according to article and very doubtful for Round 1.  Yet to start full training.  Each year it gets harder for him to get up.  Was running laps at the Intra club trial and was really struggling with the effort required, age catching up with him.

BB67th

Hmmmm well that is sad to see. It definitely will be his last year.
