All I have to say is damn the Eagles for sending Nic Nat off for surgery so late in the preseason

Yeh its a tough one LF, dare say they were hoping it would settle nicely over the break as they can but obviously once back in training it was clear it wasnt going to. Certainly weaker without him but Cox will carry the can while Nics away and he'll be back soon enough that no real damage will be done. your getting a couple of fwd's back for rnd 1 so Cox shouldnt be missed to much up there with extra time on the ball.

All true Grazz
but I`m talking from a fantasy point of view Nic Nat being fit means he`d be a lock for rucks and we would probably be not even having this discussion lol

Agreed he was locked in my team untill surgery. Atleast we have solid upgrade targets when fit. Just a race to get the cash for it.

Stop being cheap and get Jacobs!

Had him last year, and although he was solid without being spectacular...his ceiling is poor and his second half of the year DT wise was also below par. Only 4 100+ scores for the year and actually ended up with an 84 average for the year if you take into account finals. I'll pass on him.

Goldy however can go BANG when he's on...I'm just hoping those mediocre games of his a few and far between.

11/21 scores 100+  in supercoach, 15/21 90+. (regular season). Good enough for me.

Goldy and majak played the first game, and Currie and Majak the second game.

To be honest, i wasn't watching Goldy all that closely, but he may have had limited game time in the first game, but he definately sat out the second.

Majak had a fair bit of time in both games, and did well, and that makes sense that north wanting to have a good look at him, and from what I saw, he should play plenty seniors this year.

Apologies...had DT on the mind, not SC.

In terms of Jacobs, I loved having him in my team last year. Was a fairly consistent mid 90's/100 ppg scorer and I could just set him there and forget.

Exactly, with sandi and nic nat injured, cox up forward, and the option of putting roughy, ryder up forward if they fire as well. Leaves the options a little thin. Thats why i have jacobs, one of the only reliable options to me. But goldy is in my sights and still has time to impress me in the nab and change my mind, not counting him out completely yet and still on the watch list.

Haha, have you seen when Goldy does the opposite to go bang - it is woeful and will destroy your h2h and your weekend! No go for me.

If you're looking for which ruckman to to pick up, here is my write up on the best options, Goldy included.

Its funny, everyone was all over Goldy all pre season, he was in about 70-80% of teams I had looked at then he has a quiet nab cup game and everyone throws their hands up and says "Norths game plan doesnt suit him".."the ruck rules dont suit him".. "He's a spud"
Thats just garbage guys. He was the 2nd highest scoring ruckman in the comp just 2 years ago at the age of 22. He didnt loose a limb or wake up one day with no ability. He had a bad year last season early on while he wasn't the #1 ruckman. Once he was given the role back he averaged over 100 for the remainder of the season and that was without really gaining any strong form.

With another full pre season under his belt, hitting the prime of his career with the #1 ruck role again he will be one of the top handful of ruck scorers. Happy to sit him at R1

Quick question - When Goldy dominated in 2011, was he the sole ruckman for North, or was their someone else pinch-hitting/sharing the role?

Theres always someone that comes in and offers a bit of relief.

From memory it wsa Petrie and Pedersen did a bit of pinch hitting but Goldy did 90% of it alone and will again in 2013

How will the new ruck rule affect Goldy's scores do you think?

Dont think it will affect him anymore than any other ruckman.
The new rule rewards the athletic leapers but apart from NicNat and Ryder I dont consider any other ruckman being so much more athletic than Goldy that its going to make a difference
