Lions NAB Squad for this weeks games

Notable absentees are Co-Captains Jonathan Brown and Jed Adcock, Jared Polec, Pearce Hanley, Brent Staker, Simon Black, Matthew Leuenberger, and first-round draft pick Sam Mayes, whose pre-season workloads are being carefully managed by the Club in the lead-up to Round One of the AFL Premiership Season.

Mayes is the interesting one here, also Michael Close not selected due to slight foot injury.

Interesting to watch the use of Polkinghorne who has been used as back in Trials, and where Lester is used has also been used back and forward as well as the obvious Rocky and Zorks.  With the absence of Hanley do not place a lot of emphasis on the mid time for Rich.

Will also be watching to see if Paparone can maintain his pre season form.

Will also be watching Martin to see how much ruck time he gets with both Longer and Michael selected as well.

Do not be surprised to see McKeever used forward as well but his accuracy is flower.

So what's the go with Polec? Has he had an injury interrupted preseason or just not playing him in these crappy games?

Thanks guys - Just a few comments to my knowledge.

Both Polec and Mayes have had minor injury niggles and probably rested as pre caution. Mayes did not play in the intra club trial either,  Polec only played half the trial game as well. 

Both I suspect will play 2nd or 3rd game and be eligible for Round 1 selection. However imo neither will make the cut for Round 1.

Sounds good, shame to see many of the big guns out but if the Lions wanna make an assault for the top 8 (which I think they are capable of!) then Adcock, Hanley, Browny, Black and Leuy need to be out there!

Just a quick question Ringo. With Adock and Brown out of the side... Who will captain your mob? You would think Merrett, right? Was thinking it would be interesting to see how Redden or Rocky handled it.
