no. Adelaide is going to say

'flower our player is showerhouse, there's no way he's going to be decent this year.'

because that's totally what they would do.

it's a nab cup game, in which adelaide didn't field even close to their best midfield, so he get more opportunity there...

on top of that, he was coming up against an underpowered port adelaide and st kilda side, hardly quality opposition.

Wow ur a sad man Zippy. Tbag was only quoting the stats and last year Wright averaged 'more' the Dustin Martin and he did it with all of Adelaide's 'best' mids playing. So sure another preseason will definately be massive for him and he's coming in to only his 3rd year.
Dane Swan didn't average 85 until his 4th year, Gary Ablett didn't average 85 until his 6th year, Matthew Boyd didn't average 85 until his 5th year and Jobe Watson his 4th. Now not comparing Matty Wright or Dusty to these blokes for a second but stats don't lie so biased or not biased the stats don't lie so stop being so teary 24/7.

are you joking mate?

http://www.afc.com.au/news/2013-02-18/dream-team-watch  Does the actual club agree with me? ;D  :P

Matthew Wright (FWD/MID)
$438,700

Game one: five kicks, four handballs and one tackle
DT points: 34

Game two: six kicks, three handballs and five tackles
DT points: 46

Adelaide’s best performer across the two games on Sunday, Wright picked up where he left off last season. The goalkicking midfielder averaged 85.16 points per game in 2012, and will only get better with another full pre-season under his belt. Could be a unique dual-position pick for your side.

he has quoted stats in this. The main point he's trying to make though is that he and the adelaide football club have the same opinion.

' Does the actual club agree with me? ;D  :P'

he's bolded that wright is a 'goal kicking midfielded' and an opinion, that he will 'will only get better with another full pre-season under his belt'. I then pointed out the biased source, and an explanation for why his scores were so high (those NAB scores translate, since there's no stoppage time, to about a score of 120). Wrights been able to pull out scores like this, but generally against weaker opposition, which I've highlighted in my post, my point about adelaiudes best mids out was there to show that he probably wont be getting that huge amount of midfield time during the season.

You've started by attacking me rather than my argument, good job there mate. Secondly, Ablett, Swan, Boyd, Watson all began their careers in an era when disposal numbers were lower and hence dt scores were too. That's not the only reason for their lower scores, other game dynamics have changed since then. Nonetheless, some players come into the system with just more readily made for football bodies than other- it doesn't necessarily mean their development will be equal to or greater than the players who aren't as ready, it could just mean that they've simply developed faster and are reaching their peak faster.

Your point about wright averaging more than dusty, by 0.2 of a point, is neither really here nor there. Martin's younger, and so odds are has more room for improvement, but he also played more games, which more than makes up for that 0.2 point average.

Finally- stats dont lie, but they can be misleading. On face value wrights scores are quite impressive. In reality though he's only had one year of 80+ scores, while martin's had two, on top of that, wright is pretty small, at only 178cm (according the the adelaide website)... very, very, very few players at that size ever achieve purely premium average.

Why'd I bother pointing all this out? because this is a flowering topic about why so many people are going for martin, not why people should pick wright over martin, which I still maintain that they shouldn't.

Basically, don't jump on me for simply saying that I don't believe a bloke from your club is a valid dt pick, especially when I've given supporting evidence.

You do go after T Bag at every opportunity Zip, thats become glaringly obvious. You'll say because he's biased or he posts this or that but there are plenty of others who do the same but you don't go there and critique them as harshly.

Ziplock

biased to one player or another I can understand, I detest team based bias though, and I try to call it whenever I see it.

just because I notice it more when tbag does it, since it's fair to assume whenever he speaks about adelaide he's going to be biased...

ftr, unrelated, how have we not had this point out already... but serious

'tbag rocks' ?

I really hope you're a halo player tbag, or that's a bit of an inappropriate name :P

Mate you can almost rest assured each time he posts you'll be along within a few minutes or at some stage to attack it or pull it to pieces, fair enough if your treated everyone the same but you dont. You have a chip on your shoulder regarding Tbag and you refuse to let it go, all stems from how you two got off on the wrong foot and youve made it a mission in life to go after him. Maybe unpleasant to hear but thats whats going on. Deny it or make all the excuses you like to validate it to yourself but it's clear to see your gunning for for him at every opportunity. Only calling it as i see it Zip.

tbagrocks

Considering I don't know what you're talking about when you say tbag is inappropriate? ???

The name tbagrocks comes from a time when I did a Milhouse, typed "tim rocks" as a user name on a vidio game but onlu had enough charactoer and it was "tim ro"

So people started to call me "t ro" which became t bag adventually, also got called t bird but tbag stuck :P

Nothing wrong with a bit of passion about a sporting team ;)  soccer players have been killed :o

Ziplock

haha, google 'tea bagging' :P

haha, I'll try to be more fair and even and tear into anyone showing bias :P

and see tbag, exactly my point. Bias is bad :P

Another BOG performance for Wright today. There're guys who put their hand up in preseason, & there're guys who just slap you in the face!"

Freo vs Adelaide? was this a NAB game? ???

Artax

He can only perform against the opposition on the park & with the team mates he is given. I for one have been pretty excited by Wright's preseason so far

Wright is certainly making every post a winner (excuse the pun) and all the trends lean towards him uping his avg. BOG is another step in that direction but still not a full strength midfield taking the ground for the Crows today but im a fan of his, all you can do is do whats asked of you in all circumstances and he's doing that and over time will only continue to get better. Very much a toss up between he and one or two others at a similar price Martin included at the minute. Plenty more footy to see before a real lockdown decision is needed.
