That article makes a great point! Not once did I think about ruckmen and there fitnest. It's true though, the fitest ruckmen will get to every contest first and therefore get better position and result in tap out domination. The only thing I thought about was athletic ruckmen being able to jump cleanly with no blocking. Who are some of the fitter ruckmen? I currently have Sandi, who I thought would benefit from the rule due to his height but now I'm going to have to rethink this.

Two points:

1) Team playing two ruckmen (Say Hawthorn last year with Hale and Roughead) will be advantaged.
2) Players like Goldstein, who like to make a wrestle out of any ruck contest. will need to change the way they play

NM looking to put Daw up forward which allows Goldstien to float around half back as a loose man and gives NM a ruck at either end of the ground. This rule certainly increaeses the likely hood of Daw getting plenty of games this year and allows NM better opportunity to get a ruck quickly to the stoppages. Daw is also very athetic so the rule does help him over Currie.

Get on Daw as your R3/4.

So Nic Nat will be even more valuable in SC now? I can't see anyone out jumping him if they can't wrestle with him and he'll get to most contests.
Will this increase the third man up as teams look to nullify this advantage, especially the likes of Hawthorn and Geelong who use this tactic a lot anyway?
Is it going to force Sydney to actually play quicker footy rather than a rolling maul/kick game? This could be a good thing as far as viewing goes, I hate seeing 36 guys playing stacks on!

Swans play quicker footy? Have you met Jetta? Our counter attack is one of the quickest in the game!

Makes me re-think my Mumford selection.  :P
Considering the swans are up against GWS (Giles/Setanta), GCS (Smith/Gorringe), NTH (Goldstein/Daw), GEE (west/Vardy), STK (McEvoy/Hickey) and BRL (Leuey/Martin) in their first six he should be ok.

I'm well aware of his easy draw, that's why his been in my side for much of the last month. He really is the forgotten ruck had a good end to the year.  8)

As long as his not still blind drunk he should do okay early.   :D

Yeah pity about the other 21 guys :P (maybe Shaw too but he's avg at best) but tg Roos is gone. He's left a legacy of Ly-awn and Quagmire though :(

So then who do we think will benefit from the rule aside from Nic Nat?

Zac Clarke is one who could get a boost because of it.

I'd imagine it will also help Zac Smith, Majak Daw and Nathan Vardy.

Anyone else?

you miss a big issue and that is (and i cant be showered getting exact numbers) but the top rucks dont get their scores based on tap work, its around the grounds marks, tackles, goals that score the big points.

Being an athletic big guy doesn't automatically equate to topshelf ruckman (Jesse White, I'm looking at you...).
